Mavericks vs. Nets Prediction

It was an especially painful night on Tuesday for Dallas. The Mavericks suffered a pretty devastating 113-111 loss to the Pelicans on the road in their last game as 5.5-point favorites, and with New Orleans missing half of their starting players. Luka Doncic missed a potential game-winner, but you certainly couldn't put the blame on him. He finished with 37 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists, and is a threat at a triple-double pretty much every game he takes the floor. They open as small favorites over a struggling Brooklyn team that can't stop anyone right now.

The Nets will be on the second leg of a back-to-back for this one. After losing to the Milwaukee Bucks last night, now they have to immediately get back in action against the Mavericks. That can mean some tired legs, and also could mean trouble for Brooklyn. This was already a team that has been struggling defensively, and that was very evident when they played the Memphis Grizzlies a few nights ago when they gave up a whopping 134 points. Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving will show up, but this team isn't a cohesive bunch.

MY PICK: I'm fading the Nets until they find out how to guard people on a basketball court. They really haven't shown that this year much, so I'll take the Mavericks here.

Heat vs. Warriors Prediction

The last time they took the court, the Warriors got the victory with a final of 130-125 when they played the Kings. Sacramento isn't a team that is going to scare you, and they are one of the worst teams in the NBA, so this wasn't a surprising win at all. Steph Curry cooked once again. He knocked down 11 out of 22 shots for 33 points. You all already know he is one of the best players in the league, and Miami will have to find a way to contain him after delivering the Blazers their first loss of the season last night.

MY PICK: This is a tough one to predict, and normally, it would be an easy take on the Warriors. They are the NBA's best team, but the defense of the Heat should be able to slow them down. I like the plus-money we will be getting on Miami.

Clippers vs. Thunder

The Oklahoma City Thunder grabbed their first win of the season Tuesday night at home against the LA Clippers. Now the two teams meet again on Thursday in Oklahoma City. LA took the loss 108-94, but they were without their two stars in this game, Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. Marcus Morris was also out, so that was a huge blow for a team that we have no idea who is going to actually play on a nightly basis. The oft-injured Leonard is out again on Thursday with a knee injury while George is questionable for Thursday with an illness and Morris is questionable for personal reasons. You tell me how I can bet this game?

The Thunder took advantage of a short-handed team and got their first win of the season. They didn't do a good job actually shooting the ball, as they shot just 38% from the floor and 13% from three. But they out rebounded LA 60-47 with a whopping 21 offensive rebounds to 7 for the Clippers. This is a team that plays hard every single night, and they have some good young pieces to build around as well. Although, we never know who is going to play with them either, as Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was initially ruled out, but then he magically was playing in the game.

MY PICK: It is really hard to bet the NBA when you just don't know who is going to lace up their shoes every night for a team. If George actually plays, and Morris as well, the Clippers should get the win.
