The Golden State Warriors haven't impressed me at all to begin the season. Steph Curry and this offense has been cooking, as per usual, but they can't stop anyone defensively. It's been embarrassing really for a Steve Kerr coached team, as they are second worst in the NBA in points allowed. They have to correct that and fast if they want to be taken as serious title contender again after winning it all last season.

We all knew the Magic were going to be bad, this was no secret. They have been horrendous, however, especially on offense. They are scoring in the bottom three in the league, and they struggle mightily just to get the ball to the basket. On defense, they actually have been pretty sound for a young team, but they need to be able to score more in order to win games, and they simply haven't done that

PICK: Give me the Warriors ATS. Yes, they haven't been great to start the year, but Orlando is a whole other form of bad.

I have been throughly impressed with the Thunder this season so far. They have certainly exceeded expectation to start the year, and it's possible they will be a competitive team for most of the season. Their defense has been great, almost a top-10 unit in the NBA allowing just 111 points per game. Offensively they need some work, but it hasn't been awful. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is a superstar, and Josh Giddey is a young and talented player.

The Nuggets have given me the exact opposite impression. They have been pretty bad on the defensive side of the ball, allowing 117 points per game, and they just look lost at some points in the game. The offense hasn't been bad, but a team with this much talent should be doing better than they are. Nikola Jokic can only do so much, and his teammates have to step up to the plate around him and deliver. This was a popular team to begin the season, and they have disappointed so far.

PICK: Give me the Thunder ATS. No reason for me to lay that many points with the Nuggets on the road against what I think has actually been the better team so far.
