The New York Knicks and the New Orleans Pelicans meet in the Big Apple on Saturday evening.
The Knicks are as close as it gets to an auto-fade team at Madison Square Garden. They have the fifth-worst ATS record on their home floor at 12-16-3, covering just 42.9% of the time. They're also only covering the spread 42.1% of the time as a home favorite, which is the case here with New York opening as a three-point favorite. I liked what I saw from the Pelicans in their most recent game against the Raptors. Despite losing by five in Toronto, CJ McCollum and Brandon Ingram each shot over 50% from deep and were efficient from the floor overall. The Knicks are also going to be on a back-to-back, so if Mitchell Robinson remains out, the Pelicans will have a massive rebounding advantage. Grab the points with the road team!
My Pick: Pelicans ATS
The Toronto Raptors hit the road for a quick two-game road trip starting on Saturday against the Detroit Pistons.
This is a Dwane Casey revenge game! Since being fired by the Raptors and taking over as the Pistons head coach, Casey has amassed a 9-5 record straight up against his former team. Toronto has won both meetings this season but the Pistons have covered in each of those games and only lost by a combined five points. Detroit has also won outright in three of the last four meetings at Little Caesars Arena. I know it sounds ugly to back the Pistons, but at +7 at DraftKings, I think that's a great number to grab.
My Pick: Pistons ATS
The Charlotte Hornets are back home after playing in Minnesota last night and now welcome the Miami Heat to town.
The Hornets have been terrible in back-to-back situations this season. They are just 3-5-1 ATS, covering only 37.5% of the time. Not to mention they are the third worst ATS team at home at 10-17 and are just 8-18 SU. The Heat will also be on a back-to-back and are also pretty bad against the spread in those situations, but this stretch of the season is so much more important to the Heat who are fighting to get out of a play-in spot. Charlotte also just traded away its starting center Mason Plumlee, so I would expect Bam Adebayo to have a field day inside. Plus, I love the addition of Kevin Love to Miami's roster. He's going to add some much-needed shooting consistency. Back the better team and lay the -5.5 with the Heat.
My pick: Heat ATS
