NL All-Star Starter

This MLB season will likely be defined by two things: Grimace making the Mets great again, and Pittsburgh Pirates rookie sensation Paul Skenes dominating all the hitters in his path.

He's been so good, that he was just announced as the starting pitcher for the National League in the 2024 All-Star Game. He's just the 5th rookie starting pitcher to accomplish this in history, which should tell you something.

In just 11 career starts, he has been the talk of the league with how good he has been, posting a 1.90 ERA with 89 strikeouts. In his last start, he became just the fourth pitcher since 1893 to record 0 hits and 10+ strikeouts in multiple outings in a single season, joining Nolan Ryan (7th season), Max Scherzer (8th season), and Justin Verlander (17th season).

Skenes managed to do it within his first 11 MLB starts, far quicker than any of the other guys.

The Summer of Skenes

While I would love to talk about a McDonald's character here, the fact is, no one has had a better summer than Skenes. He's got it all: a bright future in a very lucrative career, a college world series championship, named a starter in the All-Star game, and of course, gets to come home to bombshell Livvy Dunne giving him hugs and kisses.

Can this dude win any more than he is winning right now? I guess if the Pirates weren't so bad as a team, but it isn't his fault no one on his team can hit.

Skenes Futures

If you are a Skenes fanatic and want to place some wagers on him, you have already missed out on some of the best prices available. He's just 7/1 now to win the NL Cy Young award and an absolutely insane -700 to win NL Rookie of the Year.

If you want to bet him to be All-Star Game MVP, he's currently 300/1. That is because it is very difficult for pitchers to win since they usually only pitch two innings at maximum.
