The scene at Opening Day made me even more excited about it

To celebrate what is essentially New Year’s day, I headed down to Fenway Park to soak in the atmosphere on Opening Day yesterday.
Though there is certainly no shortage of Red Sox doubters, you would never know the expectations for this team were so low for this year based on the crowd around Fenway on Thursday. There was a palpable and contagious buzz of excitement in the streets. There was music and there were sausages and Fenway Park was alive again.
And I was struck by one thing: how many Masataka Yoshida jerseys I saw fans wearing. Even one that just said “Yoshi.” And it reassured my confidence in one particular futures bet I have on this season.
