Nationals Injuries

Jonny VentersWAS
Out for season after surgery
Venters has been on the injured list since early July and now won't be able to throw for about four months, so it's no guarantee he'll be ready for spring training, assuming he opts to continue his career. The 34-year-old finished the season with 11 runs allowed and a 12:10 K:BB across eight innings with the Braves and Nationals.

Koda GloverWAS
Trying to avoid surgery
It sounds like his options were either Tommy John surgery or an injection and some rest, and he opted for the latter. Glover has not pitched since 2018, and it doesn't sound like a return to MLB action is in the cards anytime soon. His status will likely be updated in a couple months.

Austen WilliamsWAS
Moved to 60-day IL
The right-hander had already been ruled out for the season while on the mend from a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder, so the transaction is merely a procedural one. Washington called up reliever Aaron Barrett from Double-A Harrisburg in a corresponding move.

Player Image
Odubel HerreraPHI
suspended for remainder of season
Herrera was arrested on assault charges back on May 17. The victim (his girlfriend) elected not to press charges, but MLB evidently found enough during its own investigation to sideline Herrera for the rest of the season. The suspension will extend through the postseason should the Phillies qualify. Scott Kingery will presumably remain the primary center fielder for the remainder of the season in Herrera's absence.
OUT
Player Image
J.T. RealmutoPHI
surgery set for Friday
Realmuto has been shut down for the remainder of the season a day after the Phillies were eliminated from the playoffs. Manager Gabe Kapler confirmed there is no long-term concern regarding the injury; Realmuto should be ready to go by the time spring training rolls around. The backstop impressed in his first season with the Phillies, appearing in a career-high 145 games while slashing .275/.328/.493 with 25 home runs, 83 RBI and nine steals. Look for Andrew Knapp and Deivy Grullon to see time behind the dish in place of Realmuto.
OUT
Player Image
Tommy HunterPHI
Undergoes surgery
Hunter was sent to the shelf July 14 due to a right forearm strain, and it was later determined that he needed surgery to repair his flexor tendon. His UCL was looked at during the procedure, however, it was determined that it did not need to be surgically repaired, per Zolecki. At this point, it's unclear if Hunter will be able to return to the mound this season.

Player Image
Jerad EickhoffPHI
Called up and placed on IL
Eickhoff recently overcame a biceps injury before he was optioned to Triple-A on Aug. 20 but made just one start for Lehigh Valley before apparently succumbing to a new issue. Since Eickhoff wasn't expected to contribute for the big club at any point in September, the Phillies elected to shut him down for the season in order to open up another spot on the 40-man roster.
60IL
Player Image
David RobertsonPHI
underwent Tommy John surgery
The Phillies signed Robertson to a two-year, $23 million deal in January and will wind up getting just 6.2 innings out of him over the life of that contract.
60IL
Player Image
Seranthony DominguezPHI
Throwing from 90 feet
Dominguez has been out with an elbow injury since early June, though he avoided Tommy John surgery. He has an outside chance at best to return this season, though he does have a bullpen session scheduled for Sept. 20, leaving open the possibility that he could be back for the season's final few games.
60IL
Player Image
Jake ArrietaPHI
Undergoes surgery
Arrieta tried to pitch through the bone spur, but the results were ugly, and the Phillies ultimately decided to send him for surgery. He finishes the year with a 4.64 ERA and 1.47 WHIP in 24 starts for Philadelphia. Expect Arrieta to be a full go at the start of spring training.
60IL
Player Image
Adam MorganPHI
Officially done for season
The transaction officially spells an end to Morgan's season, confirming what was already widely anticipated. Before getting shut down with the elbow injury, Morgan had been one of the Phillies' better relievers this season, posting a 3.94 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 29 strikeouts in 29.2 innings.
60IL
Player Image
Andrew McCutchenPHI
Shifts to 60-day injured list
The move has no effect on McCutchen's recovery timeline, as he's already been ruled out for the season following knee surgery. It clears up a spot on the 40-man roster for the Phillies to select Fernando Salas' contract from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
60IL
Player Image
Roman QuinnPHI
Resumes running
Quinn has been sidelined since mid-August with a groin strain. He's expected to resume hitting Wednesday, giving him time to return for the final two weeks of the season.
10IL
Player Image
Pat NeshekPHI
Undergoes surgery
Injuries have limited Neshek to just 32.1 innings over the last two seasons. Now 39 years old, there's a chance that the injuries drive him to retirement, though he's yet to indicate any plans in that direction. He recorded an ERA of 3.62 or below in seven straight season prior to 2019, posting ERAs below 2.00 in three of those campaigns, so he'll likely still find work if he wants it.
60IL
Player Image
Victor AranoPHI
Transferred to 60-day IL
Arano has been out since April 20 with an elbow injury which eventually required arthroscopic surgery. He doesn't have a clear timetable, though Tuesday's transaction likely doesn't impact him very much, as he's just two weeks shy of having been out for 60 days. The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Adam Haseley, who was called up by the Phillies in a corresponding move.
60IL
Player Image
Corey DickersonPHI
shut down with fractured foot
Dickerson suffered a foot injury during Wednesday's game, and although initial X-rays came back negative, the team has since announced that the outfielder is done for the year with a broken foot. Edubray Ramos (shoulder) was activated from the 60-day IL in a corresponding move. Jay Bruce, Nick Williams and Jose Pirela could see more time in left field down the stretch with Dickerson out of commission.
