Rays Injuries
Player Image
Jose AlvaradoTB
lands on injured list
The move was an expected one, as Alvarado is in line to miss at least six weeks with an oblique strain. Expect Emilio Pagan and Diego Castillo (shoulder) to receive the bulk of the save chances for the Rays in his absence.

Daniel RobertsonTB
Approaching rehab assignment
Robertson has made quick progress recovering from a June 24 arthroscopic surgery on his right knee. The 25-year-old's nearing rehab assignment means that the second baseman could possibly return to the majors in late July and give the Rays some much-needed infield depth. Prior to the injury, Robertson was slashing .202/.311/..281 with two home runs, 22 runs scored and 15 RBI in 59 games.

Brandon LoweTB
May need only couple rehab games
A report Thursday indicated that manager Kevin Cash had speculated Lowe could be out through next Wednesday, and this latest news more or less lines up with that timeline. Lowe isn't yet ready to head to a rehab assignment, as he's still in the process of building up his workload. "We're still waiting on a couple of other things to work [themselves] out, but each day we're doing more and more stuff," Lowe said. "I'm feeling really good right now, so hopefully it's not much longer."

Player Image
Matt DuffyTB
To be limited to infield in return
Back in spring, the Rays had speculated Duffy could play some outfield in 2019, but that was prior to the injury bug striking him. At this point, the team is much more prone to keeping Duffy at the two positions he's most comfortable in. With Yandy Diaz and Willy Adames both having solid seasons at the hot corner and shortstop, respectively, it remains to be seen how playing time will be distributed among the trio once Duffy is activated.

Player Image
Tyler GlasnowTB
shut down for two more weeks
Glasnow suffered a setback in late June and was shut down for three weeks at that time. After a checkup and follow-up MRI, his return to throwing has been delayed further. He's been out since May 10, so he'll require a long time to build his arm strength back up, putting his availability to pitch at any point this season in doubt.

Player Image
Christian ArroyoTB
Transferred to 60-day IL
Arroyo has been out with an elbow injury since mid-June and is now set to miss at least another month. The move makes room on the 40-man roster for Peter Fairbanks, acquired in a trade from Texas in a corresponding move.

Player Image
Chaz RoeTB
Getting closer to return
Roe has been sidelined since July 11, so he won't be returning in the minimum time. However, it appears he'll come close, with Friday's 19-pitch bullpen session apparently going well. If he continues free of setbacks, the right-hander could potentially be ready to return at some point during the next week.

Player Image
Anthony BandaTB
Holding own in rehab assignment
The southpaw is in the final stages of his recovery from Tommy John surgery in May 2018, and he's being brought along slowly. Banda hasn't pitched more than 1.2 innings in any of his first four turns with the GCL squad, with the 25-year-old working up to a modest 21 pitches in Tuesday's outing. Given the deliberate pace of his rehab thus far, Banda is still likely looking at an August return at the earliest.

Player Image
Jose MujicaTB
Undergoes Tommy John surgery
It's been a rough year for elbows in Tampa, as Brent Honeywell, Jose De Leon and Anthony Banda all required the same surgery. The timing of Mujica's procedure means that he's expected to miss the entirety of the 2019 season.

Ryan SherriffTB
Inks minor-league deal with Rays
Sherriff spent most of the 2018 season with the Cardinals but was cut loose at the end of summer after undergoing Tommy John surgery in June. Given the timing of the surgery, it's unclear when -- or if -- the southpaw will return in 2019. Sherriff owns a 4.05 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 18:6 K:BB across 20 career big-league innings (parts of two seasons).

Hopes to return Tuesday
Bundy's latest bullpen session Wednesday went smoothly. If his next session Saturday happens without issues, he should be set to return after the minimum 10 days.

Mark TrumboBAL
Takes on-field BP
Trumbo's knee is reportedly feeling much better, though the Orioles still don't know when he could go out on a rehab assignment. They are optimistic that he'll be able to return from the injured list at some point this season, however. Trumbo hasn't played in the big leagues yet this year after undergoing knee surgery in September of 2018.

Player Image
Josh RogersBAL
Undergoes Tommy John surgery
The procedure was technically referred to as UCL revision, as he'd already gone through the surgery once in high school. Rogers will miss the rest of 2019 and will return very late in 2020 at the earliest.
60IL
Player Image
Alex CobbBAL
No complications with surgery
The procedure officially spells an end to Cobb's season after he made three unproductive starts for the Orioles. surrendering 15 runs over 12.1 innings in those outings. Baltimore would surely like a mulligan after signing Cobb to a four-year, $57 million contract last March with the expectation that he would serve as the staff ace. Cobb, who is expected to be back to full strength by next spring, has gone 5-17 with a 5.36 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 6.0 K/9 over 31 starts the past two seasons.

Rehab moves to Double-A
He gave up three runs while recording just two outs in an outing for High-A Frederick on Friday, but is apparently ready to face more advanced hitters. Karns is trending toward an activation in late July.
