The Commanders have to be one of the least desirable teams to watch in the NFL this season. They have a poor team that doesn't have much talent, and they have Carson Wentz at QB. The offense has shown some signs this year of doing something, but that last game against the Eagles was a total disaster. It was a terrible performance that is indicative of what they are going to be going forward.
Wentz was horrible against Philadelphia, throwing for 211 yards and no touchdowns, and I'm not sure his hot start to the season was anything more than a mirage. The defense for this team is what we should really be talking about. They have been flat out atrocious, giving up tons of yards and points every game, and getting dominated in every facet of the game.
Head coach Ron Rivera may be on his last leg in Washington.
The Cowboys haven't played their Monday night game against the Giants as of this writing, but I think we know the kind of team they are right now. You can't rely on Cooper Rush to be anything but a game manager, but this team around him has a lot of talent. Micah Parsons might be the defensive player of the year, and he's even being compared to Lawrence Taylor with how he has just dominated opposing offenses. Dallas actually has a really good defense, so if their offense can do much of anything at all to score 20+ points, they have a good chance of winning.
While they wait for QB Dak Prescott to return, Rush has to just be good enough and not make mistakes. He has some great talent around him like CeeDee Lamb and Ezekiel Elliott, and they have more difference makers than most teams they will face. As long as they can avoid the proverbial backup QB implosion, they can compete with a lot of team with this defense.
I still think Mike McCarthy is a bottom five head coach in the league, but with the talent they have, he can steal some wins to make himself look better. After all, that's what he did in Green Bay for years while being carried by Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers.
No way on earth could I take the Commanders the way they look right now. Washington is my prime candidate to be the team that is just a toxic explosion of failure in 2022, and I refuse to bet them in most scenarios.
I'll take Dallas at a short number of -2.5 to just win by a field goal at home.
