No. 15 Oregon Ducks

Statement made. After their Week 1 embarrassing defeat at the hands of defending champions Georgia, the Ducks have since whipped Eastern Washington 70-14 and taken down No. 12 BYU 41-20. The offense over the last few games has been nearly perfect for Oregon, and former Auburn QB Bo Nix has looked unstoppable since that loss to the Bulldogs in Week 1. Perhaps that early blowout is just what a talented team like Oregon needed to get the ball rolling on their season, and my goodness, the ball has started flying down that hill.

The defense has been better since getting demolished by the Georgia offense. They held a fantastic BYU attack to just 20 points, and they completely shut down the running game, with RB Christopher Brooks gaining just 28 yards on the day. They still got exposed through the air however, as QB Jaren Hall had 300+ yards and two touchdowns on this secondary. It was a classic bend-but-don't-break game for the Ducks defense.

Washington State Cougars

Don't look now, but the Cougars are undefeated at 3-0 early in the season. They already have beaten No. 17 Wisconsin on the road, so it isn't like they have played all cupcake teams thus far. Washington State is battle tested, and they will be playing at home here. This is a tough team to beat playing at home, and the Ducks will have their work cut out for them. That's probably why the spread is under a TD right now at -6.5 for Oregon, because people know this could be a very close game.

The Cougars have a great offense led by Cameron Ward, who has already passed for 727 yards and eight touchdowns to start the year. They can score in a hurry, and we have already seen this Ducks secondary get exposed against good quarterback play twice this season. Ward should be able to do much of the same. They will have to win through the air though, as their rushing attack probably won't be much of a factor against Oregon.

I think this game will be closer than you might think, with Washington State pushing the Ducks for all they can handle.

My Prediction

If I had to bet this game ATS, I would take the points with Washington State, as I think they are getting too many at home. However, my real play for this game would be the over, as I think both teams should be able to put up a good amount of points here against one another. If the Cougars can do what BYU could not, which is finish drives, they should eclipse 27 points. Oregon should put a large number on the board as well, as they look like a team on a mission right now.

Give me the OVER 54 in this matchup.
