The NBA slate is light once again tonight with just two NBA Cup games on the schedule, so we’re spicing things up with a multisport parlay featuring action from the NBA, college basketball and the NHL. Here’s what we’re rolling with:
Thunder ML vs. Mavericks
The Thunder host the Mavericks tonight in a high-stakes NBA Cup matchup, with the winner advancing and the loser eliminated from the tournament. This has all the makings of a revenge game, as Dallas bounced OKC from the playoffs last year—a loss the Thunder certainly haven't forgotten. OKC has been dominant at home this season, boasting a 9-2 record and the league's most potent home offense over the last five games, averaging 133.0 points per game. Both teams rank in the top 10 in Offensive and Defensive Ratings over the last five contests, but rumors of an illness circulating the Dallas locker room would be a big blow if certain players aren’t able to go. PJ Washington and Naji Marshall are listed as game-time decisions, and their absences would leave the Mavericks shorthanded. Back the Thunder to win outright on the moneyline or lay the points at -4.5 for a bigger payout.
Illinois -6.7 vs. Wisconsin
After a heartbreaking overtime loss to Northwestern last week, Illinois dropped out of the Top 25. The Illini struggled mightily from beyond the arc in that game, shooting just 26%—well below their season average of nearly 34%. That loss, however, has created value on Illinois, which matches up well against Wisconsin. The Illini boast the nation's top-ranked defense in effective field goal percentage and the No. 17 defense in adjusted efficiency, per KenPom. They should be able to stifle a Badgers offense that has performed well this season but faces a tough task against Illinois’ fast-paced, transition-heavy style of play. Wisconsin’s defense, meanwhile, may struggle to keep up. Take Illinois to cover at home.
Kings ML vs. Islanders
This is a brutal spot for the Islanders, who are playing their third game in four nights. Meanwhile, the Kings come in well-rested, with two days off and riding the momentum of a five-game win streak. L.A. has been dominant in shot differential this season, ranking third in the league compared to New York's 25th. Additionally, the Kings have excelled on special teams, converting 16.9% on the power play and killing penalties at an impressive 79.8% rate. Look for the Kings to take advantage of the tired Islanders and extend their winning streak in the Big Apple tonight.
