Super Bowl LIX Picks

Dan Karpuc: Chiefs (+650, BetRivers)

The Chiefs have entered a Brady-Belichick Patriots dynasty era of their own and I don’t see a reason why I should not expect them to be in contention for a three-peat. Not only is their entire core, coaching staff and front office coming back, but they just also made some impact transactions to bolster their offense, including adding former Texas WR Xavier Worthy, who ran a 4.21 40-yard dash at the Combine (the fastest time in history) and WR Hollywood Brown as a free agent. As one of just four franchises to win three Super Bowls in a five-year period, the Chiefs are already on an historic run, but as long as Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid are at the helm, there’s no other team I can honestly tout with confidence. This +650 offseason price is likely the longest this will be, so take advantage now!

Lucy Burdge: Lions (+1200, BetMGM)

Kate Constable: Lions (+1300, FanDuel)

The Lions were one win away from making it to the Super Bowl last season, losing to the 49ers in the NFC Championship. While making it that far is uncharted territory for Detroit fans, they should get used to it, because the Lions are here to stay. They return nearly the exact same roster with their dominant offense intact alongside offensive coordinator Ben Johnson. Detroit's defense was the biggest area of concern heading into the offseason but GM Brad Holmes addressed some of those needs in the 2024 draft. The Lions added cornerbacks Terrion Arnold, with their first-round pick, and Ennis Rakestraw Jr., with their second-round pick. They also drafted an OT, OG, DT, and S. The NFC North is going to be a really tough division this season but Detroit sits atop the division odds (+150) for a reason, which is why at +1200, I think there’s value for it to win this Super Bowl.

Super Bowl LIX Sleeper Picks

Dan Karpuc: Texans (+2500, BetRivers)

It didn’t take long for head coach DeMeco Ryans and rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud to make an impact together. Not only did they go 10-7 and earn their way into the playoffs, but they beat the Browns 45-14 in the Wild Card Round before losing to the Ravens in Baltimore in the Divisional Round. This offseason, Houston gave Stroud more weapons, trading for All-Pro caliber wideout Stefon Diggs and running back Joe Mixon and while signing All-Pro caliber pass-rusher Danielle Hunter in free agency. The team also added veteran defensive end Denico Autry and linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair (who had 163 tackles, 5th-most in the NFL last season) to make instant impacts on Ryans’ defense. All-in-all, this team surpassed expectations last season and I expect Houston to take some more strides forward in 2024.

Lucy Burdge: Patriots (+12500, BetMGM)

Kate Constable: Bears (+4000, BetMGM)

As a Bears fan, is this somewhat of a homer play?! Yes, 1000%, but if Caleb Williams pans out the way Chicago fans expect him to, then this roster is going to be dangerous. With Keenan Allen and Rome Odunze joining DJ Moore in the WR room and D’Andre Swift coming over from Philly to take over the ground game, the Bears might finally have a potent offense. Pair that with a top-5 defense from last season and at the very least, this might provide us an opportunity to hedge later in the season.

Super Bowl Winner Picks

The Super Bowl is the most watched sporting event in the United States, and as such, it is also the most wagered on event in the country. It's never easy to pick a winner and hit a Super Bowl future in advance, but you can do your research and make the most informed bet possible to cash in large at a nice plus money number. That's what we are trying to do here. Most Super Bowl winners are teams that you would expect to win the Super Bowl, and it isn't often we get a surprise team that actually wins it. We have had some great champions over the last 10 years or so.

The Seattle Seahawks in 2013 had the Legion of Boom. The New England Patriots in 2014 captured the crown with that amazing interception at the goal line. The Denver Broncos won it for Peyton Manning in his last year in the NFL in 2015. 2016 saw the Patriots come back from a 28-3 deficient to win the championship again. In 2017, the Philadelphia Eagles won their first Super Bowl. In 2018, the Patriots won it yet again with a very low-scoring 13-3 win. 2019 gave us Patrick Mahomes' first Super Bowl victory in his sophomore campaign. In 2020, Tom Brady and his new Tampa Bay Buccaneers won it all. In 2021, the Los Angeles Rams won it behind new QB Matthew Stafford and electric wideout Cooper Kupp. Over the last two seasons, the Chiefs won back-to-back titles, giving Patrick Mahomes three Super Bowl rings in just five years as the Chiefs' starting QB in what is shaping up to be a legendary career.
