SPREAD: Defenders (-2.5) at Vipers

Sunday, 7:00pm EST

As of Friday night, a whopping 72% of public tickets have been wagered on D.C., despite the fact that they’re coming off of an embarrassing 39-9 defeat to the previously-winless Wildcats in L.A. last week. That speaks volumes in regards to the public perception of the Vipers, who are the only remaining winless team. READ OUR FULL DEFENDERS-VIPERS PREVIEW and READ WHY THE DEFENDERS ARE A FANTASTIC MONEYLINE BET this week. The XFL has proven to be a quarterback-driven league and Tampa Bay’s three options (Taylor Cornelius, Aaron Murray, Quinton Flowers) have combined for one touchdown pass and six interceptions through three games. Although Cardale Jones had a terrible outing for the Defenders last week (and got benched), he had two solid weeks to start the year, as did D.C.’s defense, who is in a perfect get-right spot in this matchup.

MONEYLINE: Guardians (+265) vs. Wildcats

Saturday, 2:00pm EST

So far, it looks like there may be a legitimate home field advantage in the XFL. After all, home teams have gone 8-4 straight-up heading into Week 4. A wild 91% of public tickets have been wagered on the Guardians in this matchup, despite the fact that the Wildcats pulled off the improbable blowout against the Defenders last week. Quarterback Matt McGloin, who has struggled through the first three weeks, has been ruled out with an injury, thrusting Marquis Williams and Luis Perez up the depth chart. Both are expected to see time and whoever has the hot hand will likely remain in the game. Wideout Tanner Gentry, the team’s third-round pick in the XFL Draft, will debut this week and should make an immediate impact for New York. Meanwhile, Josh Johnson and the Wildcats will look to build off of their Week 3 success on the road as the clear favorites. Betting on a home underdog with upside paid off for Wildcats (+275) bettors last week and 57% of public bettors were on them in that situation. It seems like that same logic will be applied this week.

TOTAL: Roughnecks at Renegades: OVER 50.5

Sunday, 4:00pm EST

All three of Houston’s games have gone over the total due to their style of play, explosive offense led by XFL MVP frontrunner P.J. Walker and lack of a defense that can consistently create stops. To add fuel to the fire, a whopping 98% of public bettors have hammered the over as of Friday night. READ OUR ROUGHNECKS-RENEGADES PREVIEW FOR MORE INSIGHT. For context, no other over/under bet had attracted more than 59% of public bets at that point. While the small sample size certainly might cause some hesitation, there’s no denying that this is one of the best bets of the week. READ ABOUT ALL OF THIS WEEK’S BEST BETS!
