At just 7-6-19 and in 19th place on the Premier League table, Aston Villa have had a miserable season. With a -24 goal differential (the second-worst mark in the league), they're firmly in the relegation mix and have been a target for sharp bettors since the EPL resumed play in mid-June.

Per BetQL's Premier League Sharp Picks Dashboard, sharp money has bet against Aston Villa in their four games since the restart. Take a look:

Wolverhampton 1, Aston Villa 0

Saturday June 27th

Aston Villa 1, Newcastle 1

Wednesday, June 24th

Chelsea 2, Aston Villa 1

Sunday, June 21st

Aston Villa 0, Sheffield United 0

Wednesday, June 17th

As you can see, Aston Villa's defense has performed quite well in those four games, but their offense simply hasn't shown up in any way, shape or form. It will be fascinating to see what happens in their next two matches, though. They'll host the 2020 EPL champions Liverpool on Sunday July 5th before traveling to take on Manchester United on Thursday July 9th. Since they will certainly have long odds in both of those contests, will sharp bettors suddenly be interested in backing them, given their recent defensive form?
