Center: Erik Haula ($4,000)

Hurricanes (-110) vs. Lightning

Haula wasn’t expected to be ready to start the season after suffering a complicated knee injury early last year, but he’s already notched two goals in his first two games with Carolina after being traded by Vegas in June. The 28-year-old is Carolina’s third-line center yet is averaging 18 minutes per game with his new team. His scoring touch will come in handy vs. Tampa Bay on Sunday.

Winger: Anthony Beauvillier  ($4,100)

Islanders (-140) vs. Jets

Beauvillier, now playing his fourth NHL season at age 22, produced 18 goals and 10 assists in 81 games last season. Islanders Head Coach Barry Trotz is expecting more in this campaign, especially if Beauvillier plays on the second line with center Brock Nelson starting Sunday vs. Winnipeg, instead of on the third line with center Derick Brassard. Beauvillier, who assisted on New York’s lone goal vs. Washington in the season opener on Friday, has notched one goal and one assist in three career games vs. the Jets.

Defenseman: Ville Heinola ($3,200)

Jets (+120) vs. Islanders

Heinola, whom Winnipeg snatched 20th overall in this year’s draft, already is turning heads by playing solid defense (0 plus/minus) and notching two assists in his first two NHL games. Playing in the second defensive pairing, the 18-year-old rookie is skating 19:43 per game. Jets Head Coach Paul Maurice, who is rebuilding Winnipeg’s defense minus veterans Dustin Byfuglien, Tyler Myers and Jacob Trouba, has called Heinola “a pleasant surprise.” Winnipeg is playing at the New York Islanders on Sunday.

Goalie: Jonathan Bernier ($7,100)

Red Wings (+130) vs. Stars

After watching Jimmy Howard make 36 saves in a win vs. Nashville on Saturday, Bernier is expected to make his season debut for the Red Wings vs. Dallas on Sunday. Bernier produced decent stats during the preseason: a 2.76 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage in four games. He is 8-5-1 in 15 appearances vs. the Stars, including two shutouts. The Red Wings are seeking improvement from Bernier, who won just nine of 30 starts for Detroit last season.
