Staying Alive

The Tampa Bay Lightning quickly shrugged off the defeat in Game 5, and with good reason. Tampa Bay is 5-0 in this year’s Stanley Cup Playoffs in games that follow a loss. Nikita Kucherov and Brayden Point rank first and second, respectively, in playoff point production. Kucherov has 33 points (seven goals, 26 assists) and Point has 32 (13 goals, 19 assists). Goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy has a 1.97 goals-against average this postseason, which ranks second among goalies who’ve played at least 10 playoff games. He’s started all 24 of Tampa Bay’s postseason games.

Dallas' Star Efforts

The Dallas Stars signed veterans Corey Perry and Joe Pavelski last summer to help them get over the hump after nearly reaching the 2019 Stanley Cup Finals. The pair are doing just that when it matters most this year. Facing elimination, they combined to score all three goals for Dallas in Game 5. Goalie Anton Khudobin, who appeared to be nearing the end of his impressive postseason run, answered the bell with a sparkling 39-save performance in Game 5. Neither Roope Hintz nor Blake Comeau played in Game 5 due to injuries. Their status for Game 6 is unclear.
