Rob Gronkowski Set Up For Big Performance

When the Los Angeles Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers meet up for their Divisional Round showdown this weekend, we are sure to see plenty of fireworks, as both defenses have their respective problems. The offenses in this game have been explosive throughout the year, so I expect quite a few points to be scored between the two teams. That gets us set up nicely to pick out which matchups that we can exploit when looking at the player prop market. One that sticks out right away for me due to his matchup compared to his teammates is Buccaneer's tight end, Rob Gronkowski.

I previewed part of this here on BetQL and talked about how Buccaneers star wide receiver Mike Evans will be blanketed most of the game by Rams star cornerback Jalen Ramsey for most of the game. While it's certainly possible that Evans can make plays still, it is also not out of the realm of possibility that he gets shut down. The Buccaneers don't have many other weapons at wide receiver outside of Evans after Chris Godwin went down to injury for the year, and Antonio Brown went and did Antonio Brown things. Therefore, that leaves the safest bet to get looks from QB Tom Brady all day long is his long-time pal Gronkowski.

The Ram's secondary is a mess outside of Ramsey, riddled with injuries so much that pretty much every starter is out. The linebacking corps isn't particularly strong in coverage either, ranking in the bottom half of the league in that category. Gronkowski should be able to find the open lanes between the secondary and linebackers to get open for Brady.

Gronkowski Over 63.5 Receiving Yards

If Evans is going to be locked up by Ramsey all day, it would be wise to bet the over on the most reliable target outside of him. That is Gronkowski, and his yardage prop is set at a modest 63.5 right now over at DraftKings. Make sure to shop around to get the best number you can, but I would take the over at this number.

Gronkowski is sure to get a lot of targets against what I think will be a weak secondary and linebacking group. He's always been the security blanket for Brady when he needs him the most, and with everyone else either covered, injured, or mentally unstable, he is going to need him more than ever in this game.

I'd look at a Gronkowski anytime TD as well, as he has been finding the end zone quite frequently lately. I expect this to be a big day for him.
