Favorites

Trevor Lawrence leads the way as the clear favorite to win the award at +300. Kyle Pitts and Justin Fields follow at +750, and Najee Harris rounds out the upper tier at +800.

The No. 1 pick is predictably the favorite to bring home the award. The Jaguars brought in Urban Meyer to guide Lawrence and the team also selected his college running back Travis Etienne at pick No. 25 to help offensively. We've seen nothing short of special from Lawrence for a long time now. If he can right the ship in Jacksonville in his first year, voters will be hard pressed to give this award to anyone else.

Pitts is an athletic beast that should put up huge numbers in the Atlanta offense with Matt Ryan and Calvin Ridley. The Falcons new coach Arthur Smith schemed tight ends well in Tennessee as their offensive coordinator, which means he will figure out ways to utilize one of the most explosive TE’s in the league for Atlanta.

Fields' odds might be worth a shot, especially since rumor has it he's looked as good as advertised at Halas Hall. Whether Andy Dalton struggles out of the gate or Fields balls out behind the scenes, there's a good chance the Bears rookie will start at QB at some point this season. If it is early in the year, then +750 would be worth a sprinkle because you know if Fields plays well, the media hype surrounding him and the Bears will help your ticket.

Harris' odds to win OROY have shortened considerably since the NFL Draft, where you could've gotten him at 14-1 to win the award. In fact, just this weekend he jumped big names like Trey Lance, Ja'Marr Chase, Zach Wilson, and Mac Jones. All signs point to Pittsburgh making Harris their bell cow, so you know the volume will be there.

Also, rookie running backs have played well right from the jump, so it's no surprise to see Harris high on the list. Since 2012, at least one rookie RB has rushed for over 1,000 yards during the regular season. If the Pittsburgh rookie can stay healthy and the Steelers OL can improve from last season, he should be in the mix for this award come season's end.

Double-Digit Stars

A couple of big named studs come in with double-digit odds in this next group. This tier is headlined by Ja'Marr Chase (+1000), Zach Wilson (+1000), Mac Jones (+1000), Devonta Smith (+1800), and Travis Etienne (+1800).

Chase sticks out amongst this bunch to me, but you can make a case for any of the guys listed above. Chase has a great rapport with his former LSU teammate QB Joe Burrow, so you know the chemistry will be there. And, if last season was any indicator of what's to come for this Cincy offense, we know two things: Burrow is the real deal and the team loves to throw the ball.

If Chase leads the team in yards and TDs and the Bengals start winning some ballgames, there's no doubt his name will be mentioned for the OROY.
