It was inevitable, but after a 0-2 start, the New York Giants have replaced two-time Super Bowl winning quarterback Eli Manning with their 2019 first-round pick Daniel Jones.
After going 30-of-44 for 306 yards, a touchdown and no interceptions in a Week 1 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, Manning went 26-for-45 for 250 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions in the team’s Week 2 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
Manning was expected to receive an opportunity to start for a large chunk of the season, even perhaps the entire 2019 campaign while Jones learned under his tutelage. But, the organization made a quicker decision.
Jones’ debut will take place in Week 3 against the reinvigorated defense of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Week 3: At Bucs
Week 4: Vs. Redskins
Week 5: Vs. Vikings
Week 6: At Patriots
Week 7: Vs. Cardinals
Week 8: At Lions
Despite Jones’ exceptional play in the preseason and the presumed potential that he possesses, the Giants defense needs to plug up some holes moving forward if the team expects to win games consistently.
Right before the news broke, the Giants were listed as +6.5 consensus underdogs against the Bucs. It will be fascinating to see how much, if any, the line moves from now until kickoff.
