Since there are very few current openings for starting quarterbacks in the NFL, it seems very unlikely that Fromm will immediately step into a major role at the next level. Since he's been tabbed as a third or fourth round pick by most experts, the former Georgia standout will likely find himself in a backup role in Week 1. Fromm threw for 2,860 yards with 24 touchdowns compared to just five interceptions in his junior season at Georgia, but regressed from an accuracy perspective, completing just 60.8% of his passes.
Fromm was never asked to be a volume passer in Georgia's run-heavy offense, but was a proven winner and did what was asked of him. Nonetheless, he doesn't exactly stand out in any particular aspect of his game, but is regarded as an overall solid prospect by most pro scouts. Interestingly, the Atlanta Falcons look like a logical landing spot for Fromm, who would be in a familiar setting. After all, he'd be able to learn behind 35-year-old Matt Ryan, who is backed up by 38-year-old Matt Shaub at the moment. By drafting Fromm with the 119th pick in the fourth round, for example, Atlanta would instantly solidify their future at the position in the post-Ryan era that's slowly but surely approaching.
Prediction: 119th overall to the Falcons (4th Round)
Jalen Hurts did it all for Oklahoma last season. The former Alabama starter scored a ridiculous 52 touchdowns and even rushed for 1,298 yards in the process, showing off his incredible athleticism. Remember the last time everyone doubted the most dangerous running quarterback in the draft? Hint: he just won the NFL MVP. Lamar Jackson might look different physically than Hurts (taller, lankier), but even though the Sooners signal-caller is shorter in stature, he's built to withstand hits from opposing defenses.
Most importantly, Hurts proved to be a team player during his collegiate career. Not only did he gracefully accept his demotion from Bama's starting job when Tua Tagovailoa beat him out, but he then stepped in and helped win a National Championship when Tua got injured. Further, he put the Sooners on his back last season and shouldered a gigantic load. While some question marks seem to be present regarding Hurts as a passer, Jackson had those same question marks coming out of Louisville. You know which team suddenly needs a quarterback and is more apt to attempt short-yardage throws? The New England Patriots, who have Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer on their depth chart at the moment. Bill Belichick is probably more aware than anyone that the NFL is evolving and felt the direct impact of Jackson, who hung 37 points on New England's historic defense last season. If Belichick wants to make a splash in the post-Brady era, he could pass up any potential opportunity to trade up in the first round and pick up Hurts in the third round.
Prediction: 87th overall to the Patriots (3rd Round)
Who do you think will hear his name called first?
