Latest News
Updated Last Tuesday at 8:10 PM
Head coach David Culley already ruled Taylor out two days in advance of Thursday's game against the Panthers after the quarterback strained his left hamstring in Sunday's loss to the Browns, but the 32-year-old signal-caller's move to IR means he'll be sidelined through at least Week 5. Rookie third-round pick Davis Mills is the next man up on the depth chart, and if healthy, he'll presumably start at least the Texans' next three games while the organization remains content to keep Deshaun Watson inactive.

Mark Ingram II (RB)
Latest News
Updated Yesterday at 3:44 AM
Ingram's rushing yardage tally did pace the Texans on the night, but given how lackluster a game it was for the ground attack, that's faint praise. The veteran has clear possession of the lead-back role in the veteran backfield at the moment, but he could certainly find running room at a premium again in a Week 4 road matchup against the Bills on Sunday, Oct. 3 due rookie quarterback Davis Mills not presenting as an imposing threat to a talented Buffalo defense.

Johnson's modest role on the ground continued Thursday, and this time, he wasn't able to prop up his final numbers with some work in the passing game. The veteran back looks likely to be relegated to a primary pass-catching role in most contests, especially with backfield mates Mark Ingram and Phillip Lindsay outpacing him by four and five carries, respectively, on Thursday.

Lindsay actually paced the backfield in carries, but as his final line demonstrates, he did absolutely nothing with the opportunities. The seven totes represented Lindsay's second-highest total in that category through three games, and despite garnering one more attempt than backfield mate Mark Ingram against Carolina, the latter is still likely to pace the position group in a Week 4 road battle versus the Bills on Sunday, Oct. 3.

Latest News
Updated Yesterday at 3:30 AM
The speedy veteran continued the fast start to his season undeterred by the fact he was playing with a rookie quarterback making his first NFL start in Davis Mills. Cooks comfortably paced the Texans in receptions, receiving yardage and targets on a night when Mills turned to him often after the two had also connected for a two-yard touchdown in Week 2 against the Browns. Cooks now boasts 23 receptions for 322 yards and Sunday's touchdown grab over three games, and he should therefore be primed for plenty of work in a Week 4 road battle against the Bills irrespective of who's under center.

The roster move ensures that Collins won't be available to play for the Texans until their Week 6 matchup with the Colts on Oct. 17. Though the details regarding Collins' shoulder injury remain vague, prior reports suggested that he'll be in store for a 3-to-4-week recovery timeline. Houston added tight end Antony Auclair from the practice squad to take Collins' spot on the 53-man roster.

Latest News

The veteran disappointingly failed to get on the stat sheet despite the Texans playing short-handed at the receiver position with Danny Amendola (thigh) inactive. Through three games with his new squad, Conley has brought in three of five targets for 40 yards on the heels of back-to-back 40-reception seasons in Jacksonville over the last two campaigns. Given his past body of work, Conley's role should grow at least somewhat in coming games, and he'll look to make a bigger contribution in a Week 4 road clash with the Bills a week from Sunday.

Brown caught four of five targets for 67 yards in the season opener, but he failed to catch his lone target across the past two games. Jordan Akins played only three more offensive snaps Thursday but caught four of five targets for 32 yards. The pair is splitting playing time and neither has been consistently involved in the aerial attack through the first three games of the season.

The fourth-year tight end came into the game with just one reception for 17 yards through the first pair of contests, but Akins end up tied for second in catches with Anthony Miller on the Texans for the night. The Central Florida product was a safety valve for rookie quarterback Davis Mills, and given that the third-round pick is likely to continue operating a more conservative offense than veteran Tyrod Taylor (IR-hamstring) would, Akins could be busy again in a Week 4 road matchup against the Bills on Sunday, Oct. 3.

Latest News
Updated Last Wednesday at 9:45 PM
Though Mayfield hurt his non-throwing shoulder during Week 2 action while trying to make a tackle, the QB's status for Sunday's game against the Bears is not in question. Who he'll be throwing to this weekend is TBD, however, with Jarvis Landry (MCL sprain) now on IR and Odell Beckham's (knee) Week 3 status yet to be clarified.

Landry will thus be required to miss a minimum of three games due to his MCL sprain, for which coach Kevin Stefanski labeled him week-to-week. That makes Cleveland's matchup against the Cardinals on Oct. 17 the earliest possible return date for Landry. In the meantime, all eyes will be on whether Odell Beckham (knee) is cleared to make his season debut versus Chicago on Sunday. If Beckham can't go, then Baker Mayfield will be forced to operate with Donovan Peoples-Jones, Anthony Schwartz and Rashard Higgins as his starting wide receivers Week 3.
