Las Vegas Raiders vs Atlanta Falcons Prediction
The Las Vegas Raiders come into their matchup with the Atlanta Falcons off a heartbreaking loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, but the way they played may have them feeling more confident than ever. Now sitting at 6-4 on the season, Las Vegas has to start stacking some wins together to secure a playoff berth. The Atlanta Falcons fell to 3-7 on the season after a disappointing showing in their 24-9 loss to the Drew Brees-less New Orleans Saints. This game will be played on Sunday, November 29th at 1:00 P.M EST, and the visiting Raiders are three point favorites.
Atlanta Falcons Preview
Another season of underachieving is what Falcons fans are feeling at this very moment. After blowing game after game early in this season, the Falcons had one final chance to make a run this season, starting with a game against the Saints with Taysom Hill in the starting lineup instead of Drew Brees. Instead of coming out firing with a chance to steal a victory, the Falcons showed little life in their 24-9 loss. They now sit at 3-7 with a slim at best chance for the playoffs.
Nobody would argue against the talent the Falcons have on the offensive side of the ball. Led by Matt Ryan, there is first-round talent across the field. Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley form one of the best receiving duos in the league, while Todd Gurley is no slouch at running back. What holds this team back is their inconsistency. They’re scored more than 30 points three times, but in other games have looked incompetent offensively.
Against the Saints, Matt Ryan completed only 19 of his 37 attempts for 232 yards, no touchdowns, and two interceptions. That’s simply not going to get it done against a good team. To make matters worse, the Falcons couldn’t get anything going on the ground, as Gurley was held to only 26 yards rushing. Atlanta will look to improve on those numbers against a burnable Raiders defense in Week 12.
Las Vegas Raiders Preview
After defeating the Kansas City Chiefs earlier in the season, it looked like the Raiders were primed to do it again. With under two minutes left in the game, the Raiders took a 31-28 lead thanks to a touchdown reception by Jason Witten. The defense had a tall task in front of them if they wanted to stop Patrick Mahomes.
It only took Mahomes seven plays to score the go-ahead touchdown. The defense showed no resistance and couldn’t even force overtime thanks to a Travis Kelce touchdown. It’s a disappointing ending, especially after how well the Raiders played offensively. Derek Carr showed poise and talent all game, and Josh Jacobs ran for some tough yards on the ground. In the end though, it wasn’t enough.
That being said, the Raiders have already beaten the Chiefs, and were minutes away from doing it again. That alone should give them the confidence to get on a run before the playoffs. At 6-4, they’re currently the final seed in the AFC standings, and with games against the Falcons and Jets coming up, they must take advantage and make a move up the standings
Full Game Prediction
On paper, the Falcons have the offensive firepower to make this an interesting game. The Raiders will move the ball offensively against Atlanta’s defense, and score a good amount of points. The question is whether the Falcons can keep up. Based on how they played this week, the smart answer would be no, but we’ve seen this Atlanta offense explode before. Don’t be surprised to see a bit of a letdown from Las Vegas after their loss to KC as well.
