2021 Zurich Classic: Odds, Best Bets and Viewing Details

Zurich Classic outright bets

This week we shift our sights onto TPC Louisiana for the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. The course measures at approximately 7,425 yards for a par 72. When it comes to the gambling odds, the defending champions, Ryan Palmer and Jon Rahm, are the favorites to win it all at +700.

As for my betting picks, nothing groundbreaking here. Normally I dig into the data on the RickRunGood.com database. I also try to look for guys that have great course history, provide value, and players that are trending in the right direction coming into the event. But, this event presents a lot of variance, so I am taking it easier than most weeks. I’m going to bet on three duos that I think present some betting value and ride with them. All have 16-1 odds or longer.

The format for this event is different than the individual contests that we are used to, as it presents 80 groups of duos competing against each other. The tandems will alternate rounds of best ball and foursomes and will get cut down to 33 groups by the weekend.

Best Bets

Picks to win outright

Scottie Scheffler and Bubba Watson +1600

Scheffler is super consistent and gets a ton of birdies, ranking 16th in Birdie Average. Watson has won at TPC Louisiana before, which is a big plus. He is also one of those guys that can catch fire any weekend. Look for him to take some risks, but having Scheffler by his side helps to balance him out.

Sam Burns and Billy Horschel & Sam Burns +2500

Horschel has won an event this year and Burns has three top-10s since last year as well. Horschel also has won this event as an individual and as a team member. He's the only player this week that can boast that, which is big. These two are also two of the best putters on Bermudagrass. Another positive. Lastly, Burns comes into this event ranking 17th in Birdie Average. 25-1 even with those tangible results and metrics? Yes, please!

Max Homa and Taylor Gooch +3000

This is my favorite pairing of the weekend, as they have the perfect mixture for a successful team. These guys are friends and have the chemistry component of team play down. Just recently, they played together on the Sunday Homa won the Genesis Invitational. Golf wise these fellas aren't too shabby either. Their Strokes Gained: Total numbers are great and both of them make a lot of birdies. Homa ranks 35th in Birdie Average and Gooch comes in 58. Just need them to get hot, but at 30-1, they are worth more than just a sprinkle.
