2021 PGA Championship Odds: Rory McIlroy New Favorite After Wells Fargo Championship Win

An early look at the odds for the next Major

The 2021 PGA Championship is scheduled to begin on May 20th at the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort in South Carolina. And, after Rory McIlroy's win at Quail Hollow last weekend, oddsmakers have now made him the betting favorite at +1000. Prior to last weekend, most sportsbooks had McIlroy in the +1800 to +1600 range.

“With Rory winning his first tournament in two years at the Wells Fargo Championship on Sunday and playing well, and other top players struggling to win, BetMGM has made McIlroy the betting favorite to win the PGA Championship moving his odds from +1600 to +1000,” per Jason Scott, VP of Trading, at BetMGM.

He has won the PGA Championship twice in his career, including the last time the tournament was played at Kiawah’s Ocean Course in 2012.

Dustin Johnson, who was the favorite before McIlroy leaped him, comes in second on the oddsboard, at +1200 to win. Collin Morikawa, last year's champion, is further down the list at +2500.

Jon Rahm (+1200), Justin Thomas (+1200), Bryson DeChambeau (+1400), and Jordan Spieth (+1400) round out the upper echelon of favorites.

As for betting tips, it's still early, but one player that I'll definitely have some action on is the aforementioned Morikawa. He won this even last year and his iron game is perfectly suited to help him make another run. At +2500, I can't resist.
