Firing On All Cylinders

Senior quarterback Nick Starkel has done an admirable job this season replacing Josh Love. Starkel is completing over 70 percent of his passes, throwing nine touchdowns and just two interceptions. What's most surprising about San Jose State’s hot start is the performance of their defense. Last season, the Spartans struggled defensively and gave up an average of 33.2 points per game. This season, the Spartans rank 10th in opponent points per game and are allowing just 15.2 points per contest.

SJSU's efforts on the defensive side has led the under to hit in 3-of-4 games. They're also 3-0-1 ATS.

Riding The Over

Boise State has owned the Mountain West Conference for the last decade, and this season doesn't appear to be any different. The Broncos have won their four conference games by an average of 21.7 points per game. Boise State’s special teams have been as good as advertised. They've scored four touchdowns in the Broncos’ last two games.

Best Bet?

As long as quarterback Hank Bachmeier suits up for Boise State, the Broncos should be considered a strong favorite against any Mountain West opponent at home. Bachmeier didn't play in the blowout defeat that the Broncos suffered against the BYU Cougars. While this year’s San Jose State team is better than previous versions, bettors should expect Boise State to continue their winning streak against the Spartans and cover the spread. The over trend in Boise State games is pretty glaring, too.
