Multidimensional RB Makes Nevada Upset Threat Vs. Oregon

Toa Taua led the Wolf Pack in rushing and receiving last week

Oregon allowed one catch for one yard against Auburn’s running backs in Week 1.

That was, in part, due to the Tigers’ offensive play-calling and overall scheme.

However, Nevada’s Toa Taua presents quite an interesting challenge for the Oregon Ducks due to his versatility.

The running back recorded 12 carries for 56 yards and a touchdown against Purdue in Week 1, while also catching eight balls for 64 yards in the receiving game. All four of those marks led the Wolf Pack, who clearly plan on featuring the sophomore running back heavily. As a freshman last year, he accounted for 872 yards rushing, 202 receiving yards and seven total touchdowns (six rushing, one receiving).

If anyone is going to keep this game close, it’s Taua. Expect Nevada to lean on him heavily once again. If Oregon’s defense isn’t properly prepared, they might find themselves on upset alert.

BetQL’s model labels the Wolf Pack (+24) as a ★★★ bet, listing the Ducks as 16-point favorites in our college football model.
