The BYU Cougars come to Houston with a 4-0 undefeated record straight up and 2-1-1 record against the spread. Houston will be the highest level team that BYU has played this season and coming in as a road favorite this BYU team will have to get out and start hot to cover this spread. Last week BYU played a bit of a look ahead game against UTSA where they were 34 point favorites, but squeaked out a 27-20 win. BYU was able to dominate on offense but a costly turnover hurt them, and from there they just had issues scoring the ball. Although they were supposed to blow this team out they just played good enough to get out with a win. Hopefully the scare puts them back in drive and focus for a much bigger opponent in Houston. They have put up big numbers against Navy and Troy and will look to do the same this week. Lead by Zach Wilson who is a dynamic running and passing quarterback, BYU has a good shot to do that against a defense that gave up 31 points to Tulane and a Freshman QB. The Houston Cougars got off to a hot start last week for their first game of the year against Tulane with a 49-31 win. Houston rolled against the Green Wave but they weren't without their issues. Houston's quarterback Clayton Tune threw two interceptions and the Cougars' offense turned the ball over a total of five times. Four of those turnovers were in the first half, but Tulane was able to defense was able to score on two of Houston's first three possessions. You can look at this two ways, Houston needed some time to shake off the rust, or BYU's veteran & physical defense will wreak havoc on Houston this week.
Houston's defense was lucky to face a Freshman QB making his first start last Thursday and this Friday they will be getting something far from a Freshman QB in Zach Wilson. If this Cougars team needed some time to shake off the rust we sure hope they got it because BYU is a physical team on both sides of the ball, something we saw when they played a Navy team who was not ready. We will see how legit this Houston team is this Friday night.

BYU is the more experienced and team while Houston is fresh and at home in the TDECU Stadium. The point spread in this game makes it even more interesting, sitting right at +/-5 in favor of BYU makes you nervous on both sides. The BYU Cougars will have to win this game by a touchdown to cover, and last week they looked very human.
