We'll start things off in the NBA today as per usual, where we have the Indiana Pacers trying to defend their home court against their rival, the Chicago Bulls. You would think these division foes would have played each other more by now, but this will be just the second game they face off this season. Chicago destroyed Indiana in the first matchup, 124-109, and Zach LaVine went off for 28 points in that game to lead the Bulls to victory. Buddy Hield had 25 of his own, but it wasn't enough for the Pacers. It's been a rough go for Indiana during a five-game losing streak. Chicago has won three straight and looks to be playing well again. So why are the Bulls favored by just a point?
Chicago is on the second leg of a back-to-back and will be exhausted after a tough battle with the Atlanta Hawks. We haven't really seen this line move yet, but I wouldn't be shocked if the Pacers became the favorites. I'd grab Indiana at plus-money while you can before the Bulls fade money starts to stream in.
Let's move to the college ranks, where the North Carolina Tar Heels will be traveling up north to the great state of New York to take on the Syracuse Orange. This matchup is always a good battle, and you can count on both teams to give a very good effort when they face each other. I'm not a fan of North Carolina this year, and I haven't really been impressed with them at all. Syracuse isn't a great team either, but I think this game is far closer than the value we are getting right now at the current number.
I already see the line in the game moving towards the Orange, as they have gone from +4.5 underdogs to 3.5 in some locations. That also brings the moneyline down and you won't get the best bang for your buck if you take them to win outright. It's tough to win in the Carrier Dome against Syracuse, and I think they will make life extremely difficult for the Tar Heels as usual. At +155, I think they are worth a shot to win outright.
For our last underdog pick of the day, we'll head to the ice, where the Chicago Blackhawks will be visiting the Vancouver Canucks in Canada. Here's a matchup that no one will want to watch except for me as a Hawks fan, and it always hurts to actually take them to win a game because they are so mercilessly bad. However, this line is just crazy at the current number. Chicago has actually won three of the last five games, and we have cashed a few of those at huge prices against the Flyers and Sabres. Today, we'll try to cash in against the terrible Canucks, who have lost three straight.
Vancouver has been a massive disappointment this season and just fired its coach because of it. The goaltending has been a total disaster, allowing 3.96 goals per game. Chicago has been one of the worst offenses in the NHL this season, so something has to give, and the Blackhawks have been the hotter team recently.
The point here is all about getting value at the number, and this +195 is massive. In no world do the 18-25-3 Canucks deserve to be huge favorites against anyone.
