College Basketball Futures: TCU Offers Value To Win Big 12
After a strong 2021-22 campaign, TCU is a sleeper in the Big 12

The Big 12 conference should be one of the most competitive in college basketball this season. Kansas is the defending national champion, and they are clearly the favorite at +215 odds to win the Big 12. Baylor is up there at +230 as well, along with Texas at +350. Then there is a drop-off. Texas Tech is at +800, but the best value, if you ask me, is TCU. The Horned Frogs are sitting at +1200 right now at DraftKings, and I like them a lot at that number. This is a really good team that returns all of its starters.
Last season, TCU finished the year 21-13, which earned them the No. 9 seed in the NCAA tournament. The Horned Frogs beat Seton Hall by more than 20 points in the first round and nearly pulled off the outright upset against No. 1-seeded Arizona. People forget they also beat eventual national champion Kansas by double-digits in the regular season last year. No team will return as many players as TCU in 2022, and that type of veteran competitive team is the perfect formula for a team you want to buy at a big number before the season really begins.
After the poor performance against Arkansas Pine-Bluff in the first game of the season, that offers us more value. TCU struggled, but a great team avoids the upset by any means necessary, and they showed heart by coming back in the face of adversity. Remember, this has got to be the first time in forever that TCU has actually had expectations in college basketball, so that type of pressure can be difficult. They already have one of the biggest home advantages in college basketball in Schollmaier Arena, and that place was absolutely packed and rocking the other night, and undoubtedly helped them come back and win.
The Horned Frogs are a team that I really like this season, and they will get better as we approach March. Look for them to make some noise in the Big 12 this season.
