I had to double-check these odds to make sure the BetQL website wasn't broken and, sure enough, FanDuel has Michigan State at +1200 to make the Final Four. It's not often you can get an elite coach and program like Tom Izzo and the Spartans at such relatively long odds, especially when that program is currently No. 10 in the country and sitting atop the Big Ten standings. Two of Michigan State's three losses have come against other Final Four-caliber teams Kansas and Baylor, so the Spartans certainly aren't struggling. I wouldn't even mind seeing Michigan State take a few lumps in conference play because Izzo's recipe for success has always been 1. fly under the radar, 2. make the tournament, 3. wreck house. And at +1200, the Spartans are definitely flying under the radar.
At the time of this writing, Miami is at the top of the ACC standings with a 6-2 conference record (14-5 overall). What I love most about these +800 odds is that the Hurricanes have their toughest games of the season behind them, having beaten No. 9 Duke on the road and losing to Florida State by exactly one point twice. Moving forward, no currently ranked opponents stand in their way and if they win out and Duke does the same, Miami holds the tiebreak advantage. Virginia Tech (twice), Georgia Tech (twice), Notre Dame, Virginia (twice), Wake Forest, Louisville, Pittsburgh, Boston College and Syracuse stand in their path and at +800, there’s enough upside to appreciate with these odds.
Auburn hasn’t lost a game in this calendar year and the last time they lost was to UConn back in November. They’re on a 15-game win streak with a 7-0 conference record and 18-1 record overall. They’re the No. 1 team in the country right now, jumping over Gonzaga. Auburn is rolling right now and I think they have a tremendous chance to win the SEC.
