Dan Karpuc: Celtics -1.5 at Suns
Since the start of last season, Boston has been dominant in this situation, going 27-9 ATS against teams with winning records on the road. MVP candidate Jayson Tatum, All-Star Jaylen Brown and Co. have won (and covered the spread) in seven of their last eight games, while Phoenix is coming off its worst loss of the season, a 130-111 blowout against the Mavericks on Monday night. To add, the Suns have failed to cover the spread in three of their last four home games heading into this one and are the rightful underdogs in this spot. I’m going to keep backing the Celtics until they let me down… if they let me down, that is.

Lucy Burdge: Celtics -1.5 at Suns
The Celtics are 16-9 ATS this season and 12-3 ATS in their last 15, while the Suns are coming off of a huge home loss to Dallas, so I see momentum in the Celtics’ favor here to cover this spread. One trend favoring the Celtics to cover is that Joe Mazzulla is 9-0 ATS after having won four of the last five games while coaching Boston. The Suns are also one of the best teams in the NBA right now, but I think the Celtics can keep their success going and cover as road favorites tonight, especially because they’re 5-1 ATS in their last six road games.

Kate Constable: Pelicans -10.5 vs. Pistons

The Pelicans have been playing a quality brand of basketball lately. They’ve won six of their last seven games with five of those wins coming by double digits. They’ve also held teams to 108 points or fewer in each of their last four games, thanks to a top-10 ranking in defensive efficiency. They’re still likely without Brandon Ingram tonight, but that’s just fine with me because his absence has allowed Zion Williamson to play with more space, resulting in some pretty big performances. The Pelicans also have a deep bench that can sustain or even grow leads when the starters are out.

The Pistons are on a back-to-back having beaten Miami last night despite being double-digit underdogs, which makes me wonder if tonight’s game could be a bit of a letdown spot for Detroit. They also shot the ball really well, hitting at a 50% clip from the field and 46% from downtown. Maybe they experience a bit of shooting regression tonight? Plus, the Pistons got a huge 31-point game from Bojan Bogdanovic with 24 of those points coming in the second half. How much does he have left in the tank tonight? Especially with this being their third game in four nights. I’ll take a much better and more rested Pelicans team to cover tonight.
