Raise your hand if you had the Dallas Mavericks getting this far? Probably not, but what a run it's become for them.

As the Mavs get set for Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals against the Golden State Warriors, there's plenty of well-deserved hype around the growth of Luka, but there's so much more to this series than just that.

It's a battle between an overachieving organization and one that's trying to get back to the top of the mountain, and the storylines seem endless.

The Mavs went from a team that "needs more than just Luka" to a team that has suddenly gotten a solid list of contributors besides Doncic, and it's paid off. From Spencer Dinwiddie's 30 points in just 25 minutes to help close out Phoenix in Game 7, or Jalen Brunson's 21.8 points per game over the last five games of that series, they've become more versatile, while Doncic still dominates like he always has (32.6 points, 9.9 rebounds, 7.0 assists against the Suns).

The Warriors are back in the Western Conference Finals after missing the playoffs altogether the last two years. While Dallas finds itself as an underdog to win the series (+185) and Game 1, the Mavs have already shown they're more than comfortable exceeding expectations. After embarrassing the Suns in Game 7, it would be wise for Golden State to not overlook them, something that seemed like a bad habit at moments against the Grizzlies.

Dallas is already 9-4 ATS in the playoffs this year, 4-3 ATS on the road, and 3-3 ATS as a road underdog. They're battle-tested, playing with house money, and with a supporting cast now stepping up, much more dangerous than they were when the playoffs started.

The biggest contrast here will be pace, where the Mavs love to make the game crawl with Luka controlling the offense, while the Warriors want to get out and run the way they have for years.

I can see Dallas making Game 1 tough to keep it close enough for a cover, and more than likely the game going under, with both teams hitting the under less than 50 percent of the time.
