Three wagers to target in tonight's 6-game slate

We have a smaller, six-game NBA slate, but there are still plenty of guys in the player prop pool to choose from. We get a few fun matchups tonight, but I’ll go with Mavericks-Sixers as the marquee game. Philly is currently favored by 4.5 points and the total is set to 225.5.

As for betting tips, player props are a fun way to wager on NBA games even if you don't like a side or total. I like to find matchups that I can exploit or good situations due to injuries.

Let’s dive into a couple of these scenarios now.

Joel Embiid OVER 45.5 points, rebounds and assists

I know LeBron James is the favorite to win the MVP, but if the season ended today, I’d give that award to Embiid. He comes into this game averaging a career-high 29.8 points per game (PPG), and over the last 10 games, that number has gone up to 32.1 per. He also averages 11.3 rebounds per game (RPG).

While today’s number is high, the Dallas Mavericks are a nice matchup for Embiid. Dallas ranks 23rd in points allowed and 24th in defensive rating. They are also 22nd in rebounds allowed and offensive rebounds allowed, and 21st in defensive rebounds. Embiid should be able to grab a ton of boards and also pick up some easy putbacks to help him go over his mark.

You can also look at Embiid over 30.5 points if you are not feeling as confident about his rebounds and assists.

Jonas Valančiūnas UNDER 15.5 points

The Memphis Grizzlies big man is having a nice season, currently averaging 16.0 PPG. But, that number dips at home to 14.4 per game.

Tonight he goes up against a Los Angeles Clippers team that has length and is solid defensively in all the important metrics. LAC ranks 5th in points allowed and 2nd in rebounds allowed.

These two teams squared off last year and he scored nine and five points in those two outings. Granted the rosters were a little different, but I don’t see him getting the easy buckets that he normally does against this Clippers squad.

Julius Randle OVER 1.5 made threes

Randle’s having a great season and was just named to his first All-Star game. One of the reasons for his rise this year has been his ability to stretch the floor and shoot threes. He’s attempting career-highs in 3-point attempts per game (4.5) and in 3-point shooting percentage (41.4%).

Tonight he faces off against a Sacramento Kings team that struggles to stop anyone and cover the deep ball. The Kings rank 30th in points allowed and defensive rating. They also 22nd in three pointers allowed and 29th in opponent’s three point percentage.

Randle has also gone over this mark in four straight games. This is the perfect matchup to turn that number into five.
