NBA Player Props: 2 Best Bets for Friday, May 7

2 player prop bets to make for today's 10-game slate

Today's NBA slate features 10-games, and a couple of fun matchups on ESPN. This also means we have plenty of options to choose from for our player prop bets. As for the marquee game of the day, I'll go with Lakers-Blazers. Portland is favored by 8.5-points and the total is set to 221.5. This is a big game for both teams because the winner will get the tiebreaker.

For today’s best NBA bets, player props are a fun way to wager on NBA games even if you don't like a side or total. I like to find matchups that I can exploit or good situations due to injuries.

Let’s dive into a couple of these scenarios now.

Tobias Harris OVER 17.5 points

Harris is averaging 19.6 points per game on the year (PPG), but that number has dropped the past month. The dip can be directly attributed to his knee injury. He's toughed it out over the past 5 weeks, but has been moving slower and playing fewer minutes in some games. The good thing is, he said he's finally feeling 100%.

Today he faces a Pelicans team that struggles on defense. New Orleans ranks 24th in points allowed and defensive rating. They also rank 30th in 3-pointers allowed.

Game script wise, we will see a ton of points from both sides, as this game has the second highest total on the board. Harris will definitely be able to get in on the fun and my numbers have him closer to the 20-point mark, so I'll grab this over.

Nikola Vucevic OVER 33.5 points and rebounds

Great spot tonight for Vooch against a banged up Celtics squad. Boston's big man Robert Williams III is questionable and Tristan Thompson is probable. If Williams is out, Vucevic should have a field day because the Celtics are already thin at Center.

Chicago's big man has been dealing with an injury of his own, but he came back with a bang last night, putting up 29 points and 14 rebounds. Over the last eight games he's played, he's averaging 22.3 PPG and 12.8 rebounds. He's faced Boston three times this season, and is scoring 22 points and pulling down 9.3 boards.

Zach LaVine coming back also opens up the floor for Vooch to score from inside and out. I don't see anyone on Boston containing him tonight. Good number here, I'll bite.

BetQL Model Play of the Day

BetQL has a 5-star play tonight on the Wolves-Heat game. The model is liking the Heat in this spot and projects this line to be Miami -9.5. This is a 3-point difference from the current line, so there's a ton of value on them per the projections.

Nuggets (44-22) at Jazz (48-18), 9:00pm EST

  • Our model has gone 16-8 (66.7%) across all bets in Jazz forward Georges Niang’s starts. He should continue to start with Donovan Mitchell out of the lineup due to injury.
