Rockets at Thunder Prediction

The Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder meet for the second time in the last three days.

These two teams played each other in Houston on Wednesday and the Rockets won by six despite being 5.5-point underdogs. The Thunder are now back home and come into this matchup as the more rested team having not played for the rest of the week. Alperen Sengun and Co. played Friday night in Houston, so this is a back-to-back with road travel, which is a tough spot for any team. OKC has been a top-10 team from deep over its last 10 games, but for whatever reason hasn't shot the ball well from range in either of their two meetings at Houston this season. Now back in the comfort of its home floor, that should turn around on Saturday, especially because the Thunder have the best three-point percentage at home over the last month.

Suns at Pistons Prediction

The Orlando Magic continue their four-game road trip tonight with a matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

When team's are tired, typically the first thing to go is their defense. With both the Suns and Pistons playing back-to-backs on Saturday night, that's exactly what I think will be the case. When these two teams met in Phoenix back in November, the total closed at 224, but the final score only accounted for 210 points. At the time, Phoenix ranked sixth in defensive rating at home, both teams shot poorly from three and the Pistons didn't get to the free-throw line much, so it makes sense that the total stayed under. Fast forward a couple of months and things are a lot different. The Suns overall defense in January has actually been really good, ranking third, but if you look at just road games, they drop to well below league average. Phoenix has also lost every road back-to-back this season with an average total of 231. Meanwhile, the Pistons are hitting the over 58.1% of the time when playing a team on equal rest.

Mavericks at Warriors Prediction

The Golden State Warriors host the Dallas Mavericks in a rematch of last year's Western Conference Finals.

When the Warriors and Mavs met back in late November, the game had a playoff-type feel to it, and understandably so, being they played a five-game series to decide who went to the Finals last year. That's going to be the case again on Saturday, which is why I'd lean toward the under. The total in their first meeting this season closed at 227 and the game went over. However, the average total throughout last season's playoffs closed around 216. I understand that teams ramp up their defense in the post-season, but with the way Dallas has struggled to score lately, especially on the road, and the Warriors wanting to even the season series, I think we'll get a defensive-minded game in Golden State.
