NBA Draft: Best Bet For Thunder With No. 2 Pick

This year's NBA Draft is considered one of the deeper ones we've had in recent memory. Not only do we have multiple potential All-Stars expected to go early in the lottery, but teams that find themselves picking much later in the first round have a chance to still snag some strong young talent as well.

Remember, this is still "lying season" just like the weeks leading up to the NFL Draft, and as we continue to monitor where names may fall in our BetQL mock draft, we're also digging a little deeper to decide who might be the best bet at certain draft slots, depending on where the betting market sits as we get closer.

No. 2 Overall, Oklahoma City: Chet Holmgren (-350 on FanDuel)

2021-2022 Stats: 14.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, 3.7 blocks (26.9 minutes over 32 games)

Holmgren has been looked at as a top-3 pick long before he even stepped on the court for the Zags, and he'd be a perfect fit for the forever-rebuilding Thunder. Now, there's isn't a ton of value as you can see with a bet on Holmgren falling here given the early odds, but the best option may be to shop around and look for an O/U on his draft position with better pricing.

That being said, Holmgren is a incredibly unique talent that can fit perfectly into today's style of play at center. He's a 7-footer that can create off the dribble, shoot from the outside, all while giving a strong effort as a rim-protector.

Sure, he's rail-thin, but he wouldn't be the first to need to eat a few extra burgers after getting drafted. There's some validity to the Kristaps Porzingis comparisons, but his defensive effort is generally considered better, and his shot-blocking has the chance to be elite in the NBA with that 7-foot-6 wingspan.

OKC has three first-round picks, which they could consider moving, but it's likely this one sticks, and they take Holmgren and slide him right into the starting lineup of a team that has very low expectations once again in 2022-23.
