NBA Draft: Best Bet For Rockets With No. 3 Pick

The most likely outcome and what the books have to offer right now

No. 3 Overall, Houston Rockets: Paolo Banchero (-550 on FanDuel)

2021-2022 Stats: 17.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists (33.0 minutes over 39 games)

The top three feels, at least right now, pretty settled in terms of how it will shake out. There's not much value with a bet on Banchero going to the Rockets here, but as more books add other props, you might find something like the O/U on where he'll land and that can bring back something a little more for you.

With that in mind, we know this is still lying season, and a lot can change before June 23.

However, Banchero makes a ton of sense for the Rockets, who are starting to build up a nice young core with Jalen Green, Kevin Porter Jr., Alperen Sengun, Josh Christopher, Jae-Sean Tate, and Usman Garuba. There's been a lot of Christian Wood trade rumors, and with a higher upside coming in with Banchero, those are only likely to get louder.

Banchero already has the NBA size and strength, with a high basketball IQ and feel for scoring that will translate to the NBA quickly. The shot needs to get a little more consistent, as does his defense, but that's not uncommon for a young player coming into the league. The comparisons to Jayson Tatum certainly help him, and with low expectations in Houston and a big role right away, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Banchero add a consistent scoring punch with that young backcourt of Green and Porter Jr. from the jump.

Other Notable Possibilities: Chet Holmgren (+1400) and Jaden Ivey (+1600)
