Mavericks Injuries

Willie Cauley-SteinDAL | PF
Questionable Wednesday
Cauley-Stein has missed three straight matchups due to personal reasons, but he may be able to return Wednesday. More information may arrive following the Mavericks' morning shootaround.

Jalen BrunsonDAL | PG
Out another five games
Brunson injured his shoulder during Saturday's loss to the Hawks, and it turns out he'll miss at least the next five games as a result. In his absence, Seth Curry, Delon Wright and Tim Hardaway are all candidates to see increased run.

Dwight PowellDAL
Undergoes surgery
The Mavericks have provided no timeline for Powell's return to the court, but given the debilitating nature of Achilles' injuries -- particularly for big men -- the 28-year-old is far from a lock to be fully cleared once training camp opens in late September. Since Powell went down with the injury, Kristaps Porzingis has been featured at center more regularly, while Seth Curry, Delon Wright and Justin Jackson have benefited from slight bumps in playing time. Dallas also swung a deal over the weekend to acquire Willie Cauley-Stein from the Warriors, and though he didn't play in Monday's win over the Thunder, he could eventually be tasked with filling some of the minutes at center.

Magic Injuries

Al-Farouq AminuORL | PF
Likely done for season
The news doesn't come as much of a surprise, given that Aminu underwent surgery Tuesday to address a torn meniscus in his right knee and wasn't scheduled to be re-evaluated until early-to-mid April. Even if Aminu experiences no setbacks in his recovery, he would likely still need a couple weeks to regain conditioning before gaining clearance to play at some point during a potential playoff run for the Magic. With that in mind, Orlando is understandably more inclined to just shut him down for 2019-20 and apply for the exception, which would allow the team to add another player to the roster without having to waive anyone.

Jonathan IsaacORL | SF
officially done for season
Weltman's comments don't come as much of a surprise after the Magic previously applied for a Disabled Player Exception for Isaac back in January, which signaled that the organization didn't expect him to be ready to play until early April at the soonest. Now that a late-season return is off the table for Isaac, fantasy managers who had been holding him in redraft formats can feel free to move on. Isaac is expected to be fully recovered from his severe left knee sprain in advance of training camp next fall.

Chuma OkekeORL
Not expected to play in 2019-20
Just as the Kings and Nuggets have done with Harry Giles and Michael Porter Jr., respectively, over the past two years, the Magic plan to treat Okeke's rookie campaign as a redshirt year while the big man recovers from the torn ACL he sustained while playing for Auburn in the NCAA tournament. Okeke should be at or near full strength in the spring, but the Magic won't rush him back into action while the team prioritizes his long-term health. Even if he entered training camp 100 percent healthy, Okeke would likely have trouble finding playing time with all of Nikola Vucevic, Aaron Gordon, Mo Bamba, Jonathan Isaac and Al-Farouq Aminu ahead of him in some order on the Magic's frontcourt depth chart.
