PICK: Astros -1.5

There’s nothing like a no-hitter to take back the momentum of a series. Of course, a team’s momentum is only as good as the next day’s starting pitcher, and that will be Justin Verlander for the Astros. Even though Verlander ran into trouble against the Phillies in Game 1, he’s capable of bouncing back. After all, he struggled against Seattle in the ALDS but bounced back in the ALCS with a gem against the Yankees, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Verlander respond with a strong start in Game 5.

At the same time, the Phillies are putting a lot of faith in Noah Syndergaard, who has only thrown 5.1 innings in the postseason. While he’s been effective, it's been over a month since he last pitched more than three innings in a game, so his leash could be short. That could be problematic for the Phillies, who have needed nine innings from their bullpen over the last two games and could need even more in Game 5. That’s a concern and could open the door for the Astros to earn a lopsided win for the second night in a row.

PICK: Over 7.5 Runs

The losing team in this series has been shut out in back-to-back games, which is a trend that’s been surprising and unlikely to continue. As long as both teams contribute, it’ll be unlikely to see fewer than 7.5 runs in this game. The Astros have scored at least five runs in five of their last six games, and they’ll be facing a back-end starter in Syndergaard and a tired Philadelphia bullpen. Meanwhile, the Phillies are averaging 4.6 runs per game during the postseason despite being shut out twice. They’re bound to hit a home run sooner or later and put some runs on the board, doing their part to push the total runs in this game over 7.5.

PICK: Kyle Tucker to Hit Home Run (+500, BetRivers)

One of the most surprising aspects of the last two games is how the Astros have failed to hit a home run in a hitter-friendly ballpark. That's bound to change in Game 5 with Tucker being the best candidate to go deep. He already has two home runs in this series and has hit a double in Philadelphia. Tucker has arguably been Houston’s best hitter during the postseason and if the Astros get back to showcasing their power in Game 5, he’s likely the one to get it started.

PICK: Alex Bregman Over 0.5 RBI (+180, BetRivers)

Assuming the Astros get their offense going against Syndergaard and Co., Bregman is likely to be in the middle of things. In 11 playoff games, Bregman has 13 hits and 11 RBIs, thanks to four doubles and three home runs. He’s also a good contact and situational hitter who hits ahead of Houston’s power bats. Plus, Jose Altuve and Jeremy Pena are batting .278 and .294, respectively, during the World Series, so there are runners on base for Bregman, who should have multiple opportunities to drive in a run.
