Dan Karpuc: Phillies Over 1.5 Runs (1st 5)
Justin Verlander has started a World Series game in three different decades, is a future Hall of Famer and one of the best pitchers in this generation, but none of his career accolades include a World Series victory. He’s gone 0-6 with a 6.07 ERA (29 ER in 43.0 IP) in the World Series and in Game 1, this was his pitching line: 5.0 IP, 6 H, 5 ER, 5 K, 2 BB. With the series tied 2-2 and tons of pressure on his back about this storyline that’s essentially plagued him, I’m giving Philadelphia’s offense a clear edge (as far as this prop goes) in front of their crazy home fans. This series has certainly been unpredictable, so I feel more comfortable targeting team and player props at this point.

Lucy Burdge: Astros ML -160
This is Justin Verlander’s chance, everybody. The future Hall of Famer is 0-6 with an ERA of 6.07 in the World Series and this could be his last chance at 39 years old to finally get a Fall Classic victory. I think he will seize the opportunity. BetQL points out that the Astros are actually 18-2 SU when playing on Thursday this season, so I like the Astros even more to get the win and pull ahead 3-2 in the series.

Brad Pinkerton: Phillies +1.5

You know I like the under in this series, but I'm not touching O/U 7.5 today given Verlander's World Series history and Syndergaard's struggles in general. Instead, I'll settle back into one of my other favorite bets from this season/postseason: Phillies +1.5. Not only are the Phillies 10-5 ATS in the playoffs, they are 41-25 as underdogs, including 12-7 as home 'dogs. Plus, they are going to come out swinging tonight after being no-hit in Game 4. If Verlander is blinded by the World Series spotlight again tonight, the Phillies have a great chance to keep this close and potentially take a 3-2 series lead.
