Our MLB Player Prop of the Day on Pete Alonso

The Chicago Cubs and New York Mets play the final game of their four-game series tonight, with the Cubs sending right-hander Kyle Hendricks to the mound. This will be the first time Hendricks has faced the Mets this season and I’m taking New York first baseman Pete Alonso to go Over 0.5 hits (-200) against him tonight (odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook).

Alonso has faced Hendricks once and did nothing notable against him, but that was in 2019. This season, Alonso has 46 hits. And 36 of those have come against right-handed pitchers in 134 at-bats, which means he’s getting a hit 27 percent of the time against righties. Meanwhile, against left-handed pitchers he has 10 hits in 48 at-bats, which means he’s getting a hit only 21 percent of the time against them. Alonso has also been a hero of this series, driving in all three of the Mets’ runs on Tuesday.

Kyle Hendricks has given up 86 hits this season in his 13 starts. He has also allowed a league-high 19 home runs this year. Against right-handed batters this season, he’s given up 45 hits in 44 innings pitched to them.
