Let’s talk about Sonny Gray:

In August, Gray allowed just 3 ER in 36.2 IP (0.74 ERA) with 44 K and a .142 opponent average. On the season, opponents are hitting just .129 against his breaking balls, best in MLB. ☀️☀️☀️ pic.twitter.com/ZsWHF9mFR8
After a disastrous stint with the New York Yankees at the end of last season, it seemed like Sonny Gray’s days as a quality MLB starter were a thing of the past.
But, he’s proved his doubters wrong this season as a member of the Cincinnati Reds.
He’s making hitters look like fools at the dish:

Overall, he’s been one of the most dominant pitchers in baseball this season.
Sonny Gray this season with the Reds:

2.75 ERA, 3.38 FIP, 3.66 xFIP, 4.00 SIERA, 28.5% K%, and 19.0% K-BB%.
In fact, he’s had arguably the best season for a Reds pitcher in the history of the franchise.
Sonny Gray’s remarkable season, in context . . .
