NL MVP Odds: Who Are the Favorites, Long Shots?

The favorites and long shots to win NL MVP

Editor's Note: These picks do NOT necessarily reflect BetQL's PGA Model and are from our friends at BetMGM.

While many will look at MLB betting lines when it comes to MLB betting, there are also plenty of futures bets to wager on over the course of the season.

One of those is the National League MVP.

Bryce Harper won the award in 2021 for a second time following another monster season.

Besides Harper, who are the favorites this year?

Paul Goldschmidt – Cardinals (+175)

Last Week: Paul Goldschmidt likely wishes he could face off against the Pittsburgh Pirates’ pitching every game. The 34-year-old dominated the recent series, going 10-for-16 (.625) with four home runs and nine RBI as the St. Louis Cardinals took three of four from the Bucs.

This Week: Goldschmidt is now the odds-on favorite for NL MVP honors, surpassing San Diego’s Manny Machado and the Dodgers’ Mookie Betts.

He and the Cardinals will continue their series with the Brewers Tuesday before heading home on Friday for the start of a three-game set against the Chicago Cubs.

Manny Machado – Padres (+500)

Last Week: Manny Machado launched his 11th and 12th home runs of the season, part of a highly productive 10-for-27 (.370), nine RBI showing for the week. Unfortunately, things ended on a disappointing note as the star third baseman suffered what looked to be a fairly severe ankle sprain in the series finale against the Colorado Rockies on June 19.

This Week: While it remains unclear how much time Machado stands to miss with his ankle injury, interim manager Ryan Flaherty said there is “optimism” that the 29-year-old will avoid a stint on the injured list.

Pete Alonso – Mets (+700)

Last Week: Pete Alonso went just 5-for-24 (.208) over the New York Mets’ seven games, although one of his hits was a big one – a grand slam against the Miami Marlins on June 17.

This Week: Alonso leads the NL in home runs (19) and RBI (64). He and the Mets will embark on a five-game road trip Tuesday for the first of two against the Houston Astros before another go-round with the Marlins.

Bryce Harper – Phillies (+850)

Last Week: Bryce Harper missed three of the Phillies’ eight games due to a blister on his left hand. In the five games before his injury, the superstar outfielder went 8-for-18 (.444) with three RBI.

This Week: Harper will look to avoid a fourth-consecutive absence when the Phils open up a mini two-game set with the Texas Rangers on Tuesday.

Mookie Betts – Dodgers (+900)

Last Week: Mookie Betts hit his 17th home run on June 14 against the LA Angels. Unfortunately, the 29-year-old was scratched from the Dodgers’ lineup on Saturday due to cracked ribs and placed on the 10-day IL.

This Week: Betts is expected to miss roughly two weeks with his rib injury. Last week’s odds-on favorite, the injury, has seen Betts’ odds fall from +290 to +900.
