Mackenzie Gore Is New NL Rookie Of The Year Odds Leader

Next week: His next outing will be at home against the Colorado Rockies. The Rockies will be a challenge as they hit lefties very well. However, most of that damage has come at home in the hitter-friendly Coors Field.

Nolan Gorman – Cardinals (+250)

Last week: Nolan Gorman had another solid week for the St. Louis Cardinals, hitting .261 with two homers and five RBI. Gorman’s power is beginning to come around, and he’s starting to look like the best offensive rookie in the league.

Next week: Gorman will have the opportunity to feast over the next week as the Cardinals will have upcoming series with the Cincinnati Reds and Pittsburgh Pirates. Gorman could quickly become the new favorite for NL ROY if Gore slips up.

Seiya Suzuki- Cubs (+600)

Last week: Seiya Suzuki spent the past week on the 10-day IL due to a sprained left finger. His inactivity caused him to drop on the odds board. Suzuki has the third-highest odds after being the favorite for NL ROY for so long.

This week: Manager David Ross said that Suzuki could return for this weekend’s series against the New York Yankees. Before the injury, Suzuki hit .245 with four homers and 21 RBI. It remains to be seen if he made adjustments during his time on the shelf.

Alek Thomas – Diamondbacks (+1400)

Last week: Alek Thomas struggled at the plate this past week, hitting just .174. However, he only struck out four times and flashed some power as two of his four hits were homers. Thomas has continually hit the ball hard and should get hot soon as he has an expected batting average of .282.

Next week: Thomas and the Arizona Diamondbacks will get the chance to slug at the hitter-friendly Citizens Bank Park this weekend against the Philadelphia Phillies before returning home to host the Reds. Thomas could be in store for a productive week as he’s been hitting the ball hard, and if he does that enough, his average is sure to rise.

Juan Yepez – Cardinals – (+1800)

Last week: Juan Yepez’s struggles continued this past week, recording only four hits in 19 at-bats. It appears big league pitchers have made adjustments against Yepez, and he will have to make some of his own if he wants to get back on track.

Next week: Like his teammate Gorman, Yepez will have an excellent opportunity to get things going against two weak pitching staffs over the next week.
