New York Yankees first baseman Luke Voit will return to the MLB roster tonight. The powerful right-hander hit .278 with 19 HR and 54 RBI before heading to the IL on July 31st due to a sports hernia.
Prior to going down, Luke Voit had a stellar .375 wOBA and a 134 wRC+ in just 94 games for the #Yankees. He’s one of the better offensive threats on the roster. Excited to have him back. https://t.co/JRQ5hxUSyh

Mike Ford has been incredible in his absence.
While Voit is expected to receive most of the playing time moving forward, expect Ford to be utilized here and there, especially at the beginning of Voit’s return, even though it looks like he’s ready to contribute right away. Nonetheless, due to the expanded September rosters, Ford will remain with the team for at least the rest of the regular season.
Voit hit two home runs in four rehab games with Triple-A Scranton.

The Yankees are 33-16 as home favorites this season and opened as -145 favorites tonight. Further, the run total opened at 11. If Voit cracks the lineup, he could certainly contribute to some of the run scoring that the Bronx Bombers have grown accustomed to this season. If not, the lefty-masher Ford could.
However, it's worth nothing that A's starter Brett Anderson has had eight quality starts in his last 10 outings.
