Young talent has flooded the American League this season and it has made for a highly competitive Rookie of the Year race.

So, instead of looking at MLB betting lines, it may be worth examining some futures odds.

Here’s a look at MLB odds for this year’s American League Rookie of the Year.

AL Rookie Of The Year Odds (BetMGM)

Julio Rodriguez +140

Jeremy Pena +200

Bobby Witt Jr. +900

Adley Rutschman +1200

Joe Ryan +1500

Spencer Torkelson +2500

Julio Rodriguez – Mariners (+140)

Last week: The Mariners’ right-fielder had himself another productive week. Julio Rodriguez hit .280 with one homer and two RBI. He also added three more stolen bases to his major league-leading total. His performance vaulted him back into the top spot on the odds board for AL ROY.

Next week: Rodriguez and the Mariners will have some good matchups over the next week. With series’ against the Boston Red Sox and Minnesota Twins, Rodriguez will get the chance to showcase all his tools.

Jeremy Pena – Astros (+200)

Last week: Jeremy Pena had a down week by his standards, going 6-for-24 at the plate with no homers and only two RBI. He’s continued to hit the ball hard, so he’s bound to get back on track at the dish. He’s slid back a spot on the odds board, but one thing that should help his case is his excellent defense. Pena is in the 100th percentile in outs above average.

Next week: The Houston Astros are set to host a pesky Miami Marlins squad over the weekend before taking on their interstate rival Texas Rangers next week. Pena should have plenty of good matchups as he’ll avoid Sandy Alcantara, and the Rangers staff has been shaky at best.

Bobby Witt Jr. – Royals (+900)

Last week: Bobby Witt Jr. had a rough week at the plate, hitting just .148. However, he flashed his power and speed, smacking a homer and stealing a bag. This past week hurt his campaign as the gap for AL ROY has only widened.

Next Week: Witt and the Kansas City Royals will have an opportunity to get back on track against the Baltimore Orioles this weekend. They’ll need all the momentum they can garner as their following series will be against a stout San Francisco Giants club.

Adley Rutschman – Orioles (+1200)

Last week: Adley Rutschman struggled mightily once again this past week. He hit just .111 with no run production and struck out in 10 of his 27 at-bats.

Next week: The Orioles are not concerned with Rutschman’s struggles at the plate as it’s still early in his career. We could see him get going in his upcoming series against Kansas City this weekend as they have the 28th worst team ERA in the league.

Joe Ryan – Twins (+1500)

Last week: Unfortunately, Joe Ryan was still on the COVID IL this past week and did not record any starts.

Next week: Ryan will have to make a rehab start with Triple-A St. Paul before returning to the Twins. His time on the IL hurt his ROY candidacy, but his numbers will remain impressive if he can return to form.
