Josh Donaldson ($5,200)

Braves (-130) @ Phillies (O/U 10)

  • Atlanta Braves third baseman Josh Donaldson has 37 homers this season and has been locked in so far this month, hitting four long-balls.

  • In that span, he has recorded a .520 ISO, 64.7 hard hit percentage and has also been unlucky (.231 BABIP)

  • Drew Smyly has allowed 10 home runs over his last 37 ⅓ innings pitched and Donaldson has hit three home runs against him in the past.

Donaldson’s Recent Onslaught

Playing on a one-year contract, Josh Donaldson is sure to fetch lucrative, multi-year offers in the offseason. The third baseman has crushed 37 homers and 30 doubles this season in a stacked Atlanta Braves lineup. He has provided the team with excellent at-bats in the second half.

Donaldson has been particularly locked in of late and has been an on-base machine. He has collected at least one hit in seven of his last 11 games, including racking up a total of 16 walks over his last 13 contests. The RBI and runs have been plentiful for Donaldson in September as the righty has crossed home plate 10 times and driven in 11 over 10 contests this month.

Atlanta’s third baseman has launched four long-balls this month and has mustered a ridiculous 64.7 percent hard hit rate. His 9:10 K:BB ratio is impressive and his .520 ISO over that span is through the roof. It’s shocking that he has been unlucky in the process with his BABIP sitting at a low .231. He’s simply on fire.

Smyly’s Rough 2019

Drew Smyly has been an absolute disaster over the last two months. The southpaw owns an ugly 5.06 ERA since the start of August and has allowed a ludicrous 10 round-trippers over his last 37 ⅓ innings. Smyly is allowing hitters to tally a very hefty 48.4 percent hard hit rate off him in 2019.

Donaldson has had great success against Smyly over his career, going 8-for-18 with three jacks. Expect Donaldson to fill out the stat sheet and log quality at-bats against Smyly and the terrible Philadelphia Phillies bullpen.
