Consider these outside-the-box options in Thursday's tournaments

  • Masahiro Tanaka ($7,500) owns a 3.70 ERA over 14 starts on five days of rest this season.

  • Trey Mancini ($4,900) has six hits, including two homers over his last three games.

  • The Cubs have owned Jack Flaherty at Wrigley Field and are a contrarian stack to consider.

Masahiro Tanaka ($7,500)

Angels @ Yankees

The Los Angeles Angels offense has officially fallen to pieces. Things are looking grim for the Halos with the loss of Mike Trout and Shohei Ohtani for the remainder of the season. Since losing Trout to a foot injury, the Angels have mustered a pathetic 20 runs over nine games, going 2-7 over the span.

Masahiro Tanaka’s mid-level value in tonight’s affair is juicy against this poor offensive unit. Despite Tanaka’s recent woes (eight runs over his last two starts), he owns a 3.61 ERA and 3.64 FIP over his last seven contests. He’s holding opponents to a terrific 35.1 percent hard hit rate and 52.7 percent ground ball rate over the span of games. There’s a great opportunity for a win tonight given the difference between the two offenses. Tanaka owns a 3.70 ERA over 14 starts on five days of rest this season.

Trey Mancini ($4,900)

Blue Jays @ Orioles

Trey Mancini continues his incredible season with another hot streak. The outfielder has collected at least a hit in 18 of his last 20 games, including multiple hits in five of his last six. His four long-balls and 14 RBI over his last six contests makes him a steal at his cost as he has averaged 17.5 DK points during that streak.

Southpaw Anthony Kay will get the bulk of the innings in this one, making for a more intriguing matchup for the Baltimore star. Mancini has posted a stellar .269 ISO and 25.0 percent hard hit rate against lefties this season, including a very low soft hit rate of 15.0 percent. Take advantage with this surging hitter at low ownership tonight.

Chicago Cubs (Stack)

Cardinals @ Cubs

The Chicago Cubs draw a hot Jack Flaherty for this battle, making their bats’ values dip severely. However, the Cubs have held their own against Flaherty in 2019, whacking him for seven runs over 9 1/3 innings in two starts at Wrigley Field.

The Cubbies’ offense has been annihilating arms of late, tallying 59 runs over their last six games. They’ll be overlooked because of a quality arm tonight, but they are quite a value with a nice history against the ace. Take your chances in GPPs with the hot Chicago bats.
