After experiencing some knee discomfort in recent weeks, New York Yankees starter CC Sabathia was sent to the IL yet again.
On Wednesday, he makes his return to face the Detroit Tigers in what could be his final MLB start.
Interestingly, Domingo German, who has started 24 of his 25 appearances this season while accumulating a 17-4 record, will follow Sabathia.

That is likely due to the fact that German will presumably be used as a reliever in the postseason.
Overall, Sabathia has toughed out his knee issues for one last run.
First place is the only thing keeping CC Sabathia off the IL: “If this team wasn’t in a position to win a championship, I probably would have had the surgery a long time ago,” per @DanMartin_Post

The run total opened at just 9.5 after the Tigers took down the Yankees 12-11 on Tuesday. However, if this is indeed Sabathia’s last start, he could convey a few more emotions on the mound and will undoubtedly give it all he has.
