These AL & NL value picks could sneak up on the favorites for MVP

Best AL & NL MVP Value Picks

Dan Karpuc: Mookie Betts NL MVP (+1200, BetMGM)
I’m not touching the AL MVP race because I think ultimately it’ll come down to Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani. However, I think there’s a substantial opportunity to get exposure to quality players in the National League right now, especially since Paul Goldschmidt is such a heavy favorite at the moment. Enter Mookie Betts, who is slashing .277/.354/.547 entering Wednesday with 18 home runs, 42 RBI, 15 doubles and 56 runs scored in 62 games played. Most importantly, he is someone who can get red-hot and put up massive numbers in a short period of time. Since he’s featured in arguably the best lineup in baseball, he will have a lot of protection around him and should continue to produce, both as a run-scorer and run-producer.

Lucy Burdge: Rafael Devers for AL MVP (+2000, DraftKings)

There is value in Devers to win the AL MVP now and I have a feeling those odds are only going to get shorter. The Red Sox third baseman is tied with Paul Goldschmidt as the league leader in hits with 104 and has the third-highest batting average in the league with .327. And when he returns to full health from a couple of nagging injuries, he’ll be back at the top of his game. He’s also hit 17 home runs and helped propel the Red Sox from their 10-19 start to the season to their current 45-37 record. And this is all at just 25 years old. Devers is certainly an MVP-caliber player and I wouldn’t overlook his odds to win this award.

Brad Pinkerton: Shohei Ohtani for AL MVP (+250, Caesars)

I don't want to scare anyone, but Ohtani might be even better than last season when he won the AL MVP. On the mound, his ERA, WHIP, FIP and BB/9 are all down, while his strikeouts are up to a staggering 12.3 K/9. At the plate, he's slashing .259/.344/.495, numbers that are within reach of last year's .257/.372/.592 with plenty of time to improve in the power department. And with 18 homers and 53 RBIs at the midway point, Ohtani has a great chance to at least come close to his 46 homers and 100 RBIs from last year, making it very difficult to argue against him as the most valuable player. Getting him at +250 is a gift.
