Andrew Painter to win NL Rookie of the Year (+2000, DraftKings)

When you think about best odds to win Rookie of the Year for the upcoming MLB season, you are immediately probably going to think of guys like Gunnar Henderson, Royce Lewis or Corbin Carroll. It's not very often that a pitcher wins rookie of the year honors, and you have to get some good value for it if you are going to bet on it. Only one true starter is among the past 16 winners of the award, and that was Michael Fullmer in 2016. It's rare, but there are a few guys this year that have a shot at winning this award.

One of them is Philadelphia Phillies No. 1-overall prospect Andrew Painter. Baseball America named him the 2022 Minor League Pitcher of the Year last season, and now he is primed for a fantastic rookie season on a team that is already loaded after making the World Series last year.

This award was well deserved for the 19-year-old, who has quickly advanced through the minor leagues. At Single-A, Painter pitched 38.2 innings while sporting a 1.40 ERA and 69 strikeouts. He held opposing hitters to a .130 average and walked just 16 batters. He then went to High-A, where he finished with a 0.98 ERA over 36.2 innings, while striking out 49 hitters. At the Double-A level, Painter posted a 2.54 ERA over 28.1 innings pitched, striking out 37 batters. Painter finished the season with a 13.5 K/9 ratio. Pretty impressive numbers, and now he gets to try his hand against the best of the best.

He was a first-round draft pick, and the expectations were already sky-high for the young man. He has proved that he isn't afraid of any challenge, and it has really been impressive how fast he has moved up the ladder in the minor leagues. He will most likely start the season in the minors, but the fans in Philadelphia probably won't have to wait very long to see him pitch, and you can get him right now at 20/1 odds at DraftKings to win the Rookie of the Year honors.
